I've been apart of many hunting/outdoor forums for so many years that I have forgot what it's like being the newbie to a forum. The wife and I bought our first travel trailer last year, a cougar 25bhswe. We used it a ton last year and have enjoyed it. The kids (1 and 3) are really digging it as well. Now that we have a year into it, I now know what i need to upgrade and that's the power house.

I joined up to learn/search/be told what I need to do in this department.
I am sure there are numerous threads about it and I will do some searching.

My biggest problem is I hate electrical. I've been in the fab world in the past building tube chassis', suspensions, and everything else you can think of, but electrical is the area I didn't learn and hate to this day.

I am wanting to first figure out what charger I have in the TT and also contemplating going to 4 6-volts instead of the 2 12volts that I currently have.

I just want to be able to make it longer than 24 hours without having to run the generators to charge up.

Off to searching and most likely posting that newbie thread that most will shake their head at because it will be the exact post posted a hundred times.

Welcome to the forum. Yes there are many threads on "upgrading" the 12 volt system. What I'd recommend to you is to post a little more info. What are your expectations i.e. what do you plan on running and for how long? Also what kind of budget are you considering?

Answering these questions should help narrow down the reply's to better suite your situation.

Many pros and cons to what ever system you use. I will not only rely on just 1.
A combination of solar, generator and battery maybe the best. I have never tried solar due to my dry camping is normally fall/winter and camp in tall timber in valleys ie, not much daylight or direct sun light.
As asked tell us more about what your use will be and what you expect the system to run besides more than 24 hours or what your 2 12v batteries are not doing.
