When I plug my electric tea kettle (1000 watts) into either a GFI outlet or regular outlet, the rest of the elecrtic things running - lights, fan - brighten or speed up noticeably for awhile. It does not revert to less bright or slower right away after the tea kettle is finished drawing power - it seems to take awhile although I have never timed it. This happens when I am either plugged in at home or away. Also if I plug a low draw cord like a shop light into the outlets, it has no effect. Any ideas what may be causing this and how to troubleshoot? It has been going on for several months and I will be going on two long road trips soon. If it is something that needs to be fixed, it would be much better to know now, especially if it is the converter and it may totally fail! It seems confusing to me that when you plug in a high draw item, it appears as if the electric power supplied actually increases. Thanks to all who give this some thought..... Just in case this might be meaningful to you electrical geniuses, I have made one (unauthorized) electrical modification to the Trailer. I hooked an exhaust roof fan into the line that runs the overhead lights in the bunkhouse. It's been installed a number of years. If you have a bunkhouse overhead light on, and you turn the fan on, the overhead light does dim. Since there are only dogs in the bunkhouse, our answer to that is never to run any lights when the fan is on.
