This is definitely just a minor modification, but the DW likes it! I noticed that the pantry doors on our Alpine 3640 had about an 1/8" recessed area in the panel portion of the door. I got some of the melamine-coated masonite (available at HD and Lowe's) and cut it to fit within these recessed areas. This melamine is what is used as dry erase whiteboards and bathtub surrounds. A quick visit to office supplies yielded some fine point dry erase markers and a small pencil holder.

I applied a light coat of wood glue to the back of the melamine masonite (on the masonite side) and set them into the recessed area. The kitchen slide retracts to the side of this area, so I used some of the adjustable shelf braces (against the slide) to apply pressure to the melamine masonite while the glue dried.

Now, the hidden white board gives us a place for "short term memory" notes, a grocery list, and just a general temporary note place.
