2020 Keystone Cougar Half-Ton 29RBD
What a great unit.
I had the dealer set it as its acting as my home at the moment. Will a half ton Dodge Eco-Diesel pull this unit well? I haven't purchased the fifth wheel hitch yet until i know this truck is enough.

Some questions are going to be what the weight sticker on the truck is? Gearing of the truck? Oh and congratulations and Welcome from New Jersey.

IMO, forget it. That is a 10,300 lb. trailer with a pin weight north of 2100 lbs. What's the payload on that 1/2 ton Eco Diesel? 1500 lbs. or less? At least if you bought the trailer (obviously) you need to now make an intelligent decision an a tow truck (totally forget about "tow ratings").

If you don't have a truck you need to go with at least a 3/4 ton. Lots of folks complain about that, but....1/2 ton trucks are just not meant for a 5th wheel of any size. In these days everyone seems to think if it is a "truck" it can "tow" the world based on manufacturers fairyland ratings...that is just wrong. A 1/2 ton with a diesel? Those options go down.

I pull a bumper pull with a tongue weight in the 1100 lb. range, truck payload of almost 3200 lbs. and I feel "on the edge" after I load everything I want to take. I can't even imagine having a 1/2 ton trying to load a 2000lb. pin AND then try to load family and gear. Recipe for disaster for you or others IMO. I'm sure YMMV.

Welcome!!
I'm afraid you'll be disappointed with the Ram 1500 Ecodiesel as a tow vehicle for your Cougar.
Here's what Chrysler says:
"Chrysler has officially announced tow ratings for its new-for-2014 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel. The automaker says the new V6-powered diesel pickup can tow a whopping 9,200 pounds, which puts it just shy of RAM pickups equipped with the muscular Hemi V8."
You'll not only be over the 9200 pound tow rating but very likely significantly over the payload rating as well. In fact, you'll be pushing the limits of most 3/4 ton rigs. We're at the upper limits of our Ram towing and payload specs and our Cougar is a little smaller and lighter than your 29RBD.

On a positive note, TFL trucks ran a short unloaded MPG test on the new 2020 RAM ecodiesel measuring over 40 mpgs hand calculated for the run. Diesel sipping 1/2 tons. Take that EcoBoost gassers.
