So I went in to put down the deposit on our trailer. Hideout 29DFS

I thought it included an Equalizer hitch but it is actually the Fastway E2. I do recall him saying it was the E2 when we were shopping so that’s on me.

Anyways doing some reading here and not sure if this hitch will be ok or if I should see if I can pay the difference for the Equalizer.

I have a 2016 F250
Trailer is 33’ 11” total length
9650 gross weight.

Having pulled a 30 foot trailer with an e2; I was not a big fan in fact it didn`t take me long to upgrade to an E4 and boy was it a difference. With the tv you are using it might work for you. I remember reading some where that it was recommend that any rv over 27 or was it 28 feet that they recommend the E4.

Going price for E2 is about $300 and the E4 about $600. Don't let them hand you a line of baloney.....no more than $300 difference.

I would get the E4.

It was a $200 difference so I told them to add it.

Thanks for the help all!

So far this has been a great forum. Love that there are those that take the time to answer even the most basic questions. Most forums people scream to use the search first. Which I did, but it’s nice to get a definitive answer to my exact question.

Brantlyj make sure they give you the right size hitch.

What size should I go with?

At 9650 gvw you want to go with 1200 lb. bars minimum. I believe the shanks are rated for 14k but you will want the 12k bars.

s the least I would do is 12k. I do not know how your trailer will be loaded. I try to shoot for 12 to 13 percent of GVW on my tongue. 9950 X 13% 1293.5. 9950 x 12% -1194. If like you stated the UVW is 8k I doubt you would ever reach 9950. 14k is what I am running right now the trailer GVW is 9995,33feet and 11 inches long. When I checked my tongue weight fully loaded it was over 12k. The 14k works and does a great job for me. The trailer I have now; after doing research, was warned that the tongue weights runs heavy on this particular unit. Factory tongue weight means very little. I am sure 12k or 14k would work great for you.
