EMS/Surge Protector

I have an Impact 330 with 50 Amp connection. I am looking at getting Progressive Industries EMS-PT50X to keep my electrical safe.

My question is, can this be coupled with 30-50 Amp dogbone connector if we are at a place that only has 30 Amp service?

I really don't want to have to buy one of each, as they are quite pricey, if I don't have to.

Yes it will work with a dog bone adapter.

I have that same protector and can also verify that it works fine with a 50 to 30 amp dog bone. Never have had an issue and used it many times.

Any reason (besides price) to not go for the hardwired version? I've got the 30 amp version and prefer it as nothing to go for a walk and nothing to forget to plug in.

Yes... Seems like the better way to go since it can be used to monitor both shore and onboard generator.

To me the only downside to a hardwired unit is you leave it in the rv when you trade it in.

Bought a portable 50 amp in '05, went full-time in '08 with portable plugged in daily for 10+ years all across the country, worked great, never walked away & I did not lock it to the pedestal.

I love that the display on it shows how much amperage is being pulled.
When I turn on multiple electrical items, I check how many amps they are drawing and adjust my future usage of those items accordingly.

Yep, having that display available is great. I have one in both of our trailers.

I have my display above my fridge (power comes in under my fridge) and can look at it any time.

Only by looking "through the window"... The display units are wired to the EMS with a "telephone like cable" and there's no "plug in for the cable" on the portable units.

The new Surge Guard 34951 (replaces 34950) is compatible with their wireless LCD display. I'm thinking I'll be phasing my 34950 out for one of these and utilize the remote.
