View Full Version : Slide Roof Pulling Up Into A Ridge

I hadn't noticed it this spring after it came out of storage, or maybe it was more minor at the time. It's a 2018 Passport GT 2670BH.

There is a section of my slide roof in a straight line that has lifted into a small ridge - almost like the TPO portion has stretched. You can push it down but it pops back up. As you can see in the pictures, it's along a straight black line that I think is where the top seal wiper sits while the slide is closed. I assume the jiggling from the trailer moving is what has caused the black mark along the slide from the seal. In this one spot that is about 10 inches long, the TPO roof lifted. You can push it back down but it doesn't stick back down. It's not a slide gearbox leak I don't think. It's further down from where the motor sits, and it's not oily feeling at all. It looks like the wiper on the seal just pushing against it has loosened it up.

I'm obviously concerned that what ever process is going on here, plus moving the slide in and out, is going to eventually wear a hole through the roof membrane.

I don't see where there is much I can do about it, other than inspect it often, and have it repaired when it finally happens.

Anyone run into something similar?

Didn’t get any responses here so took it to the dealer to have a technician look at it and what they think.

Sorry no one helped. It may not be in anyone's experience.

Please post back what your dealer finds and the fix.

I hear by declare you the expert on the subject.

I agree with Chip. I suspect no one has run into this or doesn't know exactly what's going on from the pics. I don't.

I haven’t seen this thread until today. The dealer most likely will say it’s nothing to worry about and just watch it. Since the membrane is intact and not leaking, I doubt they will do anything.

Yeah that's pretty much what I'm expecting to hear... It's hard to know how long, if ever, this wearing motion will eventually wear through the TPO. I've now made sure I have supplies on hand in the trailer for the day it decides to wear through...

We normally keep the slide shut while its unused in the driveway, so if it happens, it will mostly likely happen while we're out somewhere.
