We are heading to Holly State Park Campground in Holly Michigan soon. Their Dump station is out of service for a few years, but they have a Septic service tanker at the station that will unload your contents if you like. I have never used a honey wagon let alone a septic service. Questions are.

Since they use low? High?? vacuum to "suck you tank"
Is that bad for a closed system like a black tank, like possible collapse of tank or something. I thought i read somewhere on the web about it is...and not is and YMMV type stuff.....
And i am sure they do not rinse after that, so rinsing is on my own

 Picture from Michigan Camping FB thing....

We love to camp at Holly. We are going this weekend. I am so glad they are doing something. We have had to uncap our septic to dump. I have not driven to Seven Lakes to dump yet.

If i decide not to have them empty, i will go to Proud Lake Rec area. They say you can dump for free if you show them your reciept from Holly. New this year if you have not camped at that particular SP put a private park, you have to pay $10.00. Not sure if all SP'S will accept another SP reciept

Fist off, your black tank is not (should not) be a closed system.
It will have a vent stack extending up through the roof.

We have used a "honey Wagon" while dry camping at a Nascar race without issue.
In our experience, the truck had variable suction, and the operator used only enough to get the job done, so to speak.

Don't worry about not rinsing once or twice, just do a good job next time you can.

We have used a honey wagon a number of times and while I watch over the operation (as if I knew anything about it) DW Brenda holds the flush valve open with her foot just for additional insurance. You won’t have any problems! In Michigan it takes years to reconfigure a septic tank system? How are y’all ever going to beat the Buckeyes if that’s the case?😄

Here's the talking paper on the Holly drain field problems.

http://www.michigandnr.com/Publications/PDFS/RecreationCamping/HollyWasteWasteWaterSummary.pdf

As you can see, there's a "conflict" between installing a new drain field and not contaminating the ground water that flows back into the lake at the park.

To be cynical for a moment, seems the government's rules they force us to follow are causing issues with them following the rules at Holly State Park..... Any bets that by summer's end, there's going to be a waiver ?????

Full on agree. They will find a way to make the words have a different meaning, or the soil will have a slightly different composition to it that will allow the cheapest system to be used.

Do as I say, not as I do. Depends on what the meaning of is, is.
