We ordered the upgrade Denver mattress which is at least 10 inches thick. The first month we slept in dread of sitting up and hitting the useless cabinet over the bed.
I removed the cabinet.
Removed the doors.
Unscrewed the mounting frame.
The window valances were screwed to the bottom of the cabinet so I got some small ell brackets to mount those more securely. The shades are in the valance so they get some use.
Removed the bottom double 1/8" panels which hid the wiring for the lights and moved the light to the sidewall. I replaced the flat dome light with a sconce that is a little less bright.
Ordered seam tape which matches the walls to cover up the screw holes, don't have that yet.
Overall it was a simple job. I saved the parts in case I can think of something to do with them. Also want to have extra hinges because the cabinet doors over the entertainment center are already sagging. Doors are too long for the puny hinges.
I'll get a picture posted when the bed gets made!
