Hello all! We need to replace the battery in our 2008 RP3612 Raptor toy hauler, but cannot determine which would be the best or correct replacement? Does anyone know which battery would be best or can someone guide us to where this information may be found?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Naomi,
A toy hauler that size should have 2 batteries. Probably Group 24 size. Look at the side of the battery itself. It should denote the group identification number.

Thank you for the reply. I'll check into the group size 24. The batteries that are in there now are not the original, I don't even think they're proper batteries for a trailer so the information on them may not be correct.

I would definitely try to put a pair of group 27’s if they will fit the space. Or even a pair of 6V golf cart batteries.

If you use the 6V batteries, the connections are different.

Thanks! I will look at those as well. I better get measurements before I buy anything...never though of that! :)

If you have a GP24 and there's room for a second battery the same size, then you have sufficient space for a 6 volt "two battery" system. The "footprint for GC2 6 volt batteries is the same as GP24 12 volt batteries.

I'd agree with chuckster, if you want to stay with 12 volt batteries, then at least GP27 DEEP CYCLE (not marine starting) batteries. FYI, if the battery lists a CCA (cold cranking amperage) rating on it, it's NOT a true deep cycle battery.

Thanks for all the replies, we're going to go with G27.

If your going to use a pair, the best way to connect is trailer leads on opposite batteries.

I think that's the way the batteries that are currently installed are connected, so will probably go that way again too. It seemed to work great! Thanks for the tip!
