So I picked up a Craftsman 3000I inverter generator off Ebay for $480. I couldn't pass that up. I understand the craftsman is a rebranded Generac model. Which I have 2 our open frame Generacs. which I have had good luck with them. So I unpacked it this weekend and it fired right up. (2 pulls) Haven't tested it out yet, but I will this weekend.

My question is, what is the proper break-in procedure?

A moderate load at about 50% will help seat the rings.

10 hours is about right. The owners manual for Champion 3100 I just sold quotes "5 hours" for the break in oil change. The owners guide for my new Westinghouse 4500 states 20 hours. I've got about 10 breakin hours (at 30% load) on it now and will be preforming the oil change later today. 20 hours just seems like a bit too much.

I just changed mine with about 10 hours on her. And surprisingly the oil wasn’t as clean as I thought it would be
