View Full Version : Raising / Lowering Front Jacks

When hooking up and raising the front jacks, they will only raise so far and then stop. I have to wait for a bit and then they will raise some more. This goes on for a while. Once connected I lower the front jacks almost to the ground for a "tug" test. While lowering there is no interuption. The only thing I can figure is that raising the jacks takes more voltage than the current battery level.

During the process the rig is connected to the truck and the truck is running.
System is Lippert 6 point hydraulic.

Thoughts?

6 point hydraulic “level up” pump draws a lot of current. What size circuit breaker do you have? Lippert is staring to recommend an 80A breaker.

They do draw quite a bit of power, as you raise the TT the volts will drop significantly. So, if you battery isn't fully charged that may be part of the problem. More than likely a voltage issue... Good luck

By the way, even when mine is and has been plugged in, i will occasionaly have the same issue.

Check your battery connection to resettable breaker that goes to dual polarity solenoid on hyd pump motor

Also check battery connections for corrosion build up.. clean and tighten as needed.

Lastly check connections at dual polarity solenoid.

If five years of use my hyd level up system has never paused. Temps operated in down to 20 degrees.

If you haven’t upgraded the resettable breaker to 80 amps ... if it’s only a 40 or 50 you will continue to have issues.

Lippert has service bulletin out for long time telling folks to upgrade that breaker. Keystone continues to not follow Lipperts recommendation.

I'm thinking again if keyston needs to up grade the wiring to accommodate for a larger fues for the Hyd system.

Here’s what you are looking for circled in yellow for breaker and red are connections on dual polarity solenoid to check.

Also if you are operating in cold weather this will increase the amount of current drawn by hyd pump motor to move that cold fluid

One last item to be aware of is.....Lippert fluid spec PDF that is currently out list several different viscosity transmission fluids you can switch to if operating in cold weather and having issues with hyd system stalling out...

BUT.... not all Lippert reservoirs are filled from factory with transmission fluid..
Many instead are serviced from the factory with AW32 hydraulic fluid.

You can tell if you have AW32 by looking st the color of the fluid. If it’s honey brown color it is NOT transmission fluid ... it’s AW32....

I wouldn’t mix fluid types and Lippert service also recommends to not mix. If you must change to lower viscosity transmission fluid you will need to flush out the AW32.
