4 season Bullet problems

We bought a 2019 Bullet 265, love this trailer. Our first trip our water froze at -5 Celsius. That’s not even that cold. One of the spots I found frozen (there were more than one) was the plumbing that was in the outdoor kitchen, it’s totally exposed under the cabinet that makes up the countertop. To say that we are disappointed is an understatement. We feel ripped off. We told the dealer we plan to winter camp and they told us Keystone was made for this and 4 season camping is one thing they do well.
The only thing my dealer does well is bull**** people and tell them anything to get them to buy.

Also standard features on “All Bullets” includes LED Valance lights, also not true and when I asked dealer said they would likely offer me gift card and I asked for the option rather than credit. Turns out I get NOTHING. The keystone pamphlets show the option as does the company videos on YouTube. I guess that applies to .......no one.

Secondly, there is no such thing as 4 season RV's, especially when it comes to ultra-light lines of trailers. There are higher end coaches that are better at providing protection against hostile winters (ie tank heaters, double pane windows, thicker floor insulation). But the idea of a 4 season RV is just marketing hype.

Finally, there are usually disclaimers in brochures and marketing literature that state "options on specific models may differ from those at time of delivery". There are incremental changes throughout the model year of a particular RV. So, the "standard features" could change by the time a unit reaches your dealer's lot. Mine did with the option of having interior LED lights.

My advice to others is to join a forum like this in advance of a purchase and ask questions and read others comments. Make an effort to do you research. Especially if you plan to do winter camping and make such a large investment. Taking a salesperson word for something is my fault. Truthfully I was just so excited when I picked it up I was wearing blinders. I learn best from my mistakes.

Camping memories become priceless and bumps in the road create adventures.

Welcome to the forum. I have almost the same trailer, the 26RBPR. We love the floor plan. Good to know about the outdoor sink, I will be sure to thoroughly drain mine after use. Your picture looks so like spring I just want to GO CAMPING!

You have an excellent attitude about this "adventure" and are to be commended.

The good thing is that most of your problems can be either eliminated or improved with some time, money, effort and targeted modifications to improve cold weather performance.

As was pointed out in a prior post, the "4 season", "therma frost" options etc. are just sales hype. With the way a trailer is thrown together I doubt the workmen have any idea what is coming down the assembly line.

There have been several members that have tried to improve cold weather performance so maybe they will chime in with some of their real life remedies.

Until then, keep looking on the bright side and all the wonderful adventures and memories to be had/made. As one that also can zero in on the negative I have found (through the constant redirection of my DW) that looking at the positive side always makes your day, and others, much brighter.:)

Thanks for the discussion. I’m going to spray PU foam over waterlines in outdoor kitchen and considering maybe adding 2” rigid foam to the inside of the exterior door in kitchen area with Velcro attached for winter use only. Next winter camp gonna run a small heater inside OD kitchen and not use it. Sites have power. Ultimately I may need to buy/build a skirt (for the trailer not me) and run a light or heat source.

Floated the idea of not using water or bathroom with #1 in winter camp and she just looked at me, said nothing and walked away. I think that means she agreed. I’m really smooth.

GS guy Reminds me when I was a kid got a new bike at Xmas and we had 8’ snow. Had to wait months to ride it past end of driveway and that was only after I finished shoveling.

Another Reason we bought this RV is to get out there and live and not be so serious, and critical etc. I used to be obsessed with fishing while camping and still enjoy but really starting to appreciate sitting in a chair with a Bevi.

While maybe not as "cold" as where you're located, it was below 0F (-18C) last weekend and he and his DW spent the weekend "enjoying adult beverages and attending winter festival activities"...

While not the same trailer, the systems are very similar and he can give you some excellent "been there/done that" experiences.

Thanks JRTJH (John) for the kudos on my winter camping fun. Yes, DW and i go every other weekend to our Hideout. It is winterized so we bring bottled water and have a porta Potty in the trailer's bathroom. We have use of shore power, run a couple of heaters on 2 different circuits and there is a bathhouse open in the park with all the amenities. Last weekend it was -2F at night, but our heaters kept us cozy at 68F.. The bevi's and the chili cook off results probably helped us stay warm under the covers too.... ! Oh, might add that we have very little, if any condensation in the trailer by using 2 small fans and our bathroom roof vent open with fan running.. Lots of snow and ice melting on the roof happening, was worried at first, but the great site team and members on here said there is nothing to worry about.. ENJOY!!!!

Ohhhh boy! Is that where Cain said he had to spend the nite in the outside vestibule????:D Or, as DW says, ..." a big bowl of chili" (I always use lots of spices and jalapenos) lets you get to "hang out - out there"! And we're Texans; lots of jalapenos, hot stuff. But, DW, although living in SE NM and W TX for 60 years still has the palate from her roots in PA. But, last night, she felt cold and "cuddled up" asking if I could keep her warm....I had only had ribeye and salad for supper....:o

That is exactly what I tell people that ask me. It's not as easy or hard as it looks. But it's fun.
