Best autoslide hitch??

Looking at purchasing a autoslide for my truck. Which is the best and worse?? Going in a 2017 Ram 3500 SRW Short box(of course).

DO you really need one? Most 5th wheel RV's built today have rounded front's negating the need for slider hitches. We have never used the slider on ours.

We have had our Demco Hitch 21K for two years. We like it just fine. I'm not sure you'll get any opinions on best and worst regarding auto-sliders, there aren't very many and the ones I'm familiar with are good quality. Mustanger's Pullrite is also a fine hitch. Either one will serve you well and give you the relief needed to make some of the tighter turns.

We've had our Pullrite 2900 for over 6 years and have over 60,000 miles on the trailer, and the only issue we had was a failed cam bearing, which was easily replaced. It is a very solid hitch and is pretty heavy too. You just have to spray the ways with WD40, like the instructions say to do, every day, and it works well.

Didn't think I needed a slider until I attempted to make too tight of a U-Turn, now have a custom dent in the truck. Got the slider as soon as I got home from that trip.:hide:

We have a Demco as well. Just need a cherry picker to get it out!

Turns great, slight bang when starting from a stop and turning. (Pulling off side street onto main road)

Other than that, it’s nice to NEVER worry about hitting cab.

We have the curt q20 hitch with the curt manual slide system.. never had to use the slide feature yet but the hitch itself is really easy to connect and disconnect and so far like it alot

Another vote for PullRite. We have had our PullRite 2700 for just under two years now, and have used it to pull our 5th wheel for about 5,000 miles. We have never had a problem with it and it works fantastically well. It truly does allow 90 degrees of turning capability for our truck and trailer application, either when going forward or when backing up.

Other than using WD-40 to lubricate the Fifth Wheel Plate parts and Way Tubes at the beginning of each day of travel, and occasionally tightening the Turnable Cam Arm Assembly, the hitch just ‘works’ without further issue. Once a year, I thoroughly clean and inspect it, and, about once a month or so, when not in use, I lubricate the appropriate parts and Way Tubes.

It is, as previous posters have stated, very heavy. We are fortunate to be able to leave the hitch installed in the bed of the truck. The tonneau cover helps keep the hitch protected from the negative influences of the weather. As a bonus, the weight of the hitch helps to smooth out the ride of our 3500.

We have removed the hitch from the truck just twice. Both times, I simply left the hitch attached to the pin box of the trailer, unhooked the PullRite from the bed of the truck, and used the 5th wheel’s landing gear to raise the hitch clear of the truck. When I was ready to reinstall the hitch, I simply reversed the process.

The PullRite is a great hitch.

I'm running a 2015 Ram 3500 mega cab dually pulling a 2019 Carbon 38' toy hauler. I sprung for the PullRite Super Glide. Not having any prior experience I'm very happy with this combo. Keep things clean and have a spray can of WD-40 handy and no issues at all. Course, I've only got about 1500 miles with this rig but hey, gotta start somewhere.

I ended up with the pullrite auto slide. Its big and heavy but looks like it will work fine, we will see, first trip out of the year in a week or so.:)

We have been using the Demco Hijacker for a year now and have had no problems. We require a very tight turn to get it into my home driveway and it has worked out well. Unit is heavy (289lbs) but the design setup also means I can help out and move someone else's 5er for them.

HAHAHA I also have a Pullrite AutoSLider and it works great. I built the almost exact same setup in my garage to remove my slider when I don't need it. The tonneau cover keeps it clean when not towing. I made a small cart to lower hitch onto and then i roll it over and store it under my stair landing to my shop. Works good for me.

I'm sure the Demco is a fine hitch. two weeks ago we had a customer pull in with a big Montana and his Demco auto slider was sliding back/forth by itself. He contacted Demco and they sent the parts to us and didn't charge the customer. As I remember the main bearing sheared off, Im not the one that rebuilt it. Anyway We can say that Demco stands behind their product, I don't know if they paid the labor also.

I just sold my 2700 ISR Series 16K SuperGlide. It was a great hitch and had no problems with it. Like everyone is saying it is heavy.

Pullrite 2900. Contacted the back of my cab twice before I was convinced I needed a slider. It is too heavy to lift by myself - 230 lbs if I remember correctly - so I use a chain fall to remove and install. I prefer dry lube, not WD40 as lubricant.

I agree on the pullrite, i jist boiught one and it seems to work great.
I also have a tonneau cover and it dose help with the hitch getting wet when not using it.
My problem is when the cover is folded up, my sprinter just lays over the top on a 90 degree turn which i have to do to put it in the driveway
I like your idea of using the pin box to lift ti out of the truck. My question is do you just leave it hinging all the time?

From an engineering point of view, there should be no concerns or issues with letting the slide hang from the pin box. The static force of just hanging from the box, should be thousands of pounds less than the forces encountered while driving down the road.

However, I only hang the hitch from the slide for the shortest amount of time needed as I don’t want the hitch exposed to the elements any longer than necessary. The longest I have had the hitch hanging is two days.
