I'm new to 5th wheels and I have a Reese slider for sale. Fella asked if it was automatic. The one I have has an arm to lock it are there automatic sliders?
This is a picture of the one I have

The one you have is a manual slider. We have an auto slider, this one, and it does slide automatically whenever you make a turn, forwards or backwards. http://www.pullrite.com/products/isr-series-hitches-industry-standard-rails/isr-series-superglide-18k

Thanks. Yes I knew the one I had was not automatic but wasn't aware of ones that are automatic. As I said I'm new to 5th wheels. I've got over 50 years of towing but just bought the first 5th wheel last month

If you have a dually, most likely you have an eight foot bed. If that is the case, you don't need a slider hitch.

Nope we have one of the odd ones. It is a Dually, Megacab with a short bed, 2014. Our Beagle has more room then we do. :-) :-)

Put the info you just mentioned into your signature and that will clear up things when you ask questions. Is Hurricane a place or a weather report? Wow what a name if it is a place.

^ Agree with George. I know this has been brought up before. It would be nice to know what state/province members are from when answering questions that may be regional in nature, i.e. "I'm in Phoenix AZ will the snow hurt my RV roof?":D. Just a suggestion.

Welcome to the forum from Radium Hot Springs BC.
We have stayed in Hurricane on 5 different occasions. 3 times at Willowind RV park and twice at Sand Hollow State park. You live in a nice area of Utah.

I don't necessarily agree with the above statement. We have a 2017 F350 DRW with an 8' box; we pull a Raptor 3712TS. When hitched, the generator box door will not open fully to access the front generator. (You may need access to check oil, set the altitude setting on the carburetor, reset breakers, etc.) To resolve this, I added a slider to my Reese hitch - after we park, my first step in set-up is to put the hitch in "maneuvering" position which gives me room to get full access to the generator. That also gives me easier access to drop the tailgate and get access to the truck bed. As the last step of leaving, I put it back into "tow" position before we leave.

IMO, with a dually you may not need a slider to "tow and maneuver", but you might want it for better access to both the tailgate area and the front of the trailer.

Is there a factory fifth wheel set up in the bed ? The trailer seems very close to the truck bed.

Yes, I’m using the factory “pucks “ with an off-the-shelf Reese hitch.

I have a slider with a short bed anchored into the "puck system". A necessity I know, but I agree with LewisB,it is nice to have some room in the "maneuvering" position to open the front compartment. And when hitching up it allows more room between the tailgate and the trailer especially if you have to approach from an angle.

My set up is:
2018 Ram 3500 HO/Aisin CC 4x4 Air-Lift Bags
16K Curt Slider Hitch
2017 Laredo 350 FB

That's strange. I can have my tailgate down and hitch up to the trailer with a few inches to spare. I believe I can open my generator door too when hitched. Similar setup, setup in sig.

Does anyone use the Andersen Ultimate Hitch? I am using one in my RAM 3500 short box with my 305RL. So far it works great. Straight back is a 9" set back from center of axle. When turning sharp it's a 5 inch set back. I have the B&W turnover ball in my truck so this hitch solution works well although it is also available in a version that mounts on standard hitch rails.

There are a few that use that hitch. I have the steel version and love it.

We've been using the Steel Anderson on the traditional rail mount since we switched to a 5th wheel. Works great with our Sprinter and easy to lift out of the truck for all the other hauling tasks not camping related.
