Slide out problems

I have a 03 Sprinter fifth wheel with one super slide. When I operate the slide it makes a popping sound. This happens whether I am extending or retracting the slide. What would cause this and how do I repair?

Welcome to the forum. Can you tell us what type of slide mechanism you have? Makes it easier.

Do you see cables or a track, or even hydraulic pistons?

That should give you an idea.

Cables would be around the slide on the wall on the inside. Hydraulics most likely underneath and out side. Tracks on the slide on the sides.

also....is your rig level when operating the slides?

You should make sure it is when opening them.

I have two cable slides on my Toy Hauler....and they operate much better when the trailer is level....front to back and side to side. Just a thought!

I believe it’s hydraulic It happens whether it’s level or notLook on the edges of the slide from the inside of the trailer. If you see cables, then its cable driven.
