8 screws

Just doing a bit of electrical work inside the old Cougar. Took down one of the fixtures and it had 8 screws holding it to the ceiling. I would venture to say it weighs less than 8 oz. How about that for Keystone quality!;)

Maybe someone had one of these fixtures fall down because the screws were secured to air and they sent a bulletin to the assembly line foreman to secure the light better. By the time the message got to the guy with the screw gun in hand it was "make sure you screw that sucker down good". Like the campfire game where you whisper something in the ear of the person next to you and listen to how it changed by the time it comes full circle. :) Or how posts and comments on other comments change after the number of replies go up.:lol:

The original message and probably the one QC at Keystone looks for is: Put a screw in every screw hole or you'll be working overtime to fix your mistakes.

I know, I know, I used the words "fix" and "mistakes" in the same sentence, which is something NO RV manufacturer allows......

No actually quite surprised every one was holding in the ~ 1/8" Luan.
The only thing I can think is back in 2012 Keystone only employed Craftsman in Pendleton OR. and RVs were hand built instead of Assembly Line workers. :hide::nonono::nonono::nonono:

I think it is cheaper to keep putting screws in than to spend the ten minutes it would take to find the studs and put in two screws that hit them. Just keep drilling till something hits.

Every time we camp I find at least one screw laying on the floor or carpet in the trailer... I used to spend a goodly amount of time looking for where it might have fallen from... Never have found a screw missing... well according to the DW I have several screws loose... But not in the trailer..

Seriously... I've yet to set up the trailer and not find at least one screw laying around and nothing has fallen off the wall and all the cabinet doors are still firmly attached...

I wish the person who assembled our slide-out drawers under the dinette seating area had used a few more (and substantial) screws. One came out on the drawer slide (only two were holding it all together) and it was a time-consuming effort on my part to figure out the issue as to why the slide was jamming, then disassemble it, find a workable screw and put it back together.

The installer noticed that most trucks pulling this type of trailer have "4X4" stenciled on the rear quarter panel, so he did the math and used 8 screws. :thumbsup:

Have checked the other fixtures? Maybe that one didn't have too many, it's the others don't have enough.

Too many? Not enough? Eight holes = eight screws... After all, how many of us with 8 lug wheels would settle for 6 lugs on each? Not intending to be a wet blanket on the fun, but if there's a mounting hole, it should be used to mount the object.....
