Been considering this for a good while, but I've been driving trucks and hauling trailers for most of the past 60 plus years and I've never found the need for anything but a tire gauge and a tire club... But I'm getting older and think the convenience of not having to feel the pain in my knees might finally make the TPMS worth it...

Any of y 'all ever use this particular one.... ?

I've had the OEM Ford ones and they're a pain if you don't want to run the tire at full inflation..

I have used the Smart TPMS most of this season on my TT. Has worked fine for me. I am using the included signal booster. The pressure indications have are very 'agreeable' with my pressure gauge. I haven't had any issues with losing signal or false warnings. I like that I don't have to have another monitor in the cab. I typically rely on the audible alert (i.e. I don't always keep the app in view on the phone), but will check visually during stops, etc, just for some extra peace of mind. Have only used for this season so can't say much about durability, longevity, battery life, etc. So far, so good. I am happy with the purchase and performance.

I use one with a seperate monitor so don't need to keep an app open on the phone. Wouldn't tow without it.

I've used one for the last two seasons and love mine. Not having a dedicated TPMS monitor was a key point in my decision to buy that system. You'll still get an alert if you have one, via the WiFi to Bluetooth adapter. It Wil beep about 10 times and a Red LED will flash. At that time, you can open your sleeping app and see what it is.....if you don't have it up on the phone screen already. I'm well satisfied with mine and would recommend it. I installed the booster on the trailer tongue and have Not had a loss of signal or communications issue.

I do not have the Tireminder, I use the TST 507. I have to say having relied on my tire gauge for many years, I have found the TPMS system a wonderful investment. I used to worry continually (especially after a blowout) about tire pressures, heat etc. Now I just look at the monitor. I don't always have the gauge "at the ready" because I know what the tire pressures are when I stop. And, like you, after about 9 knee surgeries, the pain that I don't feel in my knees anymore is a great relief.

As far as Bluetooth, smartphones etc. I guess I'm still pretty old school. Trying to watch my tire pressures on a smartphone has no appeal to me, I like the monitor sitting right in front of me. I know others like to use gadgets but as far as I'm concerned a "smart" phone is just a "phone"....I talk on it - well, nowadays I do use it for a few other things in a pinch if I can't access my laptop.:D

I use the tireminder and the fact that GM decided that 3500's didn't need tire pressure monitoring (or the gov gave them an out) made it much easier. The tire minding systems has saved me several times on smaller trucks (able to stop and change tire before damage to tire or rim) and also on the wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee when she had a nail in her tire. So i really had wanted it on my tow vehicle and naturally on the RV tires too. I liked that I could add it to my truck and my rv and it was simple to separate when not towing. The booster really helps too. I even have the DW trained to quickly scan through tires occasionally and let me know numbers while I'm driving/towing. Well worth the money in my mind!. Only used this one for one season so far though.

I have the TST507. I like having a dedicated monitor that just sits on the dashboard in front of the DW.
I prefer that to having to open a phone app to check the pressures.
Our unit came with a repeater, but seems to work fine on our trailer without it.

Thanks for the information, I guess in the greater scheme of things a $300 tire gauge is not out of the realm of imagination... Just never thought I'd be paying for one.. :D

But look at it this way, it's not just "A" tire gauge, it's like having several tire gauges.....and to top it off, it multi-tasks also by giving you tire temperatures! :D

See, I'll bet you feel better about it already!

I just got a Tireminder A1A setup (with Rhino Booster). Haven't used it yet but looking forward to having good real-time data.

Well it isn't a cheap tire gauge but as the joke goes. "A auto mechanic is talking to a heart surgeon/doctor and says " I don't understand why you make so much more money then me? We both fix broken equipment for people !" and the doctor says "Try doing it while it's running !" LOL So try checking your tire pressure at 60 mph and you will appreciate the tire monitoring system. Also, one blown tire can cost you thousands !

I looked at it this way;
Would I rather pay $300 for a TPMS or $1000's for repairs to the trailer after a blown tire shreds it?
Cheap insurance IMO.

I like your surgeon doctor/mechanic joke except for the fact when a mechanic makes a mistake it comes back to him whereas a doctor surgeon can bury their mistake.

X2 on the TST507. No booster needed with a CC long bed truck & 40' 5er, user changeable batteries, have them on all 10 tires & have worked flawlessly for the last 5 years. Highly recommended.

The Tire Minder Smart TPMS comes with an extender so that shouldn't be a problem. It also alerts over the Bluetooth device and the phone app..

Guess I'll have to pay for a fancy tire gauge.. [emoji1787]

I bought the Smart TPMS at the beginning of the season this year and have not one bad thing to say about it. It is peace of mind in the hot summers. I have had the app open while using it and also just used the Bluetooth module. All work great. It was not cheap but worth it in my opinion.

I use the Tire Minder Smart TPMS. It works great! It will alert you long before you have time to check the pressures and kick the tires.

Did you buy one yet? Anxious to hear whether or not you like it.

I have been using my tm-55 for three years now and am very glad I purchased it. I advised a friend on mine to get one and he refused. Now $4000.00 dollars later in damages after a massive blow out he purchased one. Need I say more?

Not yet, our planned trip for my birthday took a nose dive, but I will buy one before we go again..

I purchased the tire minder TPMS with the range extender and blue tooth. I’ve used it a few times with no issues to date. It is not as accurate as a good tire gauge which the company publishes in their manuals. It’s accurate within a pound or two.

I thought about upgrading my TireMinder TM-66 (A1A) to the Smart TPMS but like some others, didn't like the idea of the app needing to be open to view the pressures. I decided to upgrade the TM-66 monitor to the TM-77 monitor. It came with the Rhino booster. I like the larger screen on the TM-77 and fixed antenna.

I started off with the TM-55 and gradually added 12 sensors to it. 7 for the truck (dually and spare) and 5 for the 5'r (4 tires and spare). Upgraded to the TM-66 monitor that used the same booster as the TM-55.

I did not like the antenna's on the TM-55 and TM-66 being extending and stow able. Was always fearful i would bend or break them. The TM-77 had a short fixed antenna that i do not need to worry about. The TM-77 screen is about 25% bigger overall than the TM-66. Easier for us old guys to read. I do like the way I can separate the trailer from the truck on the TM-77 so I do not get alarms when using the truck locally.

Was pricey to get up to 14 sensors (2 spare) but I feel what I have spent on the system is worth it so i do not have to worry about a tire going flat or overheating. The system did save my bacon once with one of the metal valve stems worked loose and lost enough pressure (65psi down to 50 psi) to sound an alarm. I was able to pull over, identify the problem, tighten the external nut so I could make it to the next exit. At the next exit, I fired up the generator, plugged in the small air compressor and filled the tire with air.

That's one of the main reasons I got a TPMS, you can check your tire pressures religiously before you leave but you can't know what's happening as you drive down the road unless you have a monitoring system.

I have the TST 507 with the standalone receiver with no booster and all the sensors report with no problem. I love the piece of mind driving down the road and being able to glance at the monitor and see what's happening. Of course not having to crawl around checking tire pressures is pretty sweet too.

If I had it to do over again, I would look into the TST 507 and the flow through sensors as removing the Tireminder is a slight hassle but manageable. Now, I am too far down the road with the number of sensors and the cost to change over is a bit on the high side at this point.
