If you have a hitch on your 5er look closely, this was found on a new Redwood when tried to add a bicycle rack & no picture isn't posted sideways this time.

Either welded wrong or hole drilled wrong. Maybe really small bikes could work.:D
Well, isn't that interesting!!! You have to wonder how things that simple get missed at the factory.

Im sure it's just like the construction industry right now. Competent workers are hard to find, and I'm sure they are seeing the effects of low wages, and the fact we've pushed people into colleges instead of trade schools for decades.

I wonder if it's one of those "features" to protect the innocent (stupid) people who don't read the instructions or ignore them???
It might be a "receiver tube" for a specific bike rack and is not intended to be used as a "hitch for a trailer" or for a different style of bike rack.... Maybe it was drilled so nothing would work in the tube "EXCEPT" the intended part....
Just a guess, and if not that, well, yeah, somebody did a major SNAFU/FUBAR...:facepalm:
