I have a Pull-Rite 18k hitch mounted to industry standard rails in my 2017 F250 Super duty. This is NOT a slider. I have owned it for 4 years and it has always been very quiet when towing. Lately I am noticing that it is making these "popping" noises while towing. I have lubricated all of the moving parts and even sprayed WD40 on the pins connecting the hitch to the rails but nothing has fixed the problem. Any ideas?

Call Pull Rite. I called them a couple times and they were helpful.

If you haven’t done so already, I would certainly check the bolt torque for the hitch and rail mounting brackets. I torque mine periodically and it’s not unusual to find a bolt or two that need tightening.
