Can someone tell me what kind of slide system is used in Montana High Country fifth wheel. Also the leveling jacks are they hydraulic or electric. Was also wondering if there was a YouTube video on the manufacturing process I found one for the cougar and one for Montana. Also what are the thoughts on the Onan 5.5 is generators are they loud?noisey?expensive ? Worth it or better to buy a Yamaha or Honda.

Slides, could be a combo. I have both electric and hydraulic in my Alpine. Website should tell what the jacks are. I would think at this price point your in hydraulic leveling. You could find one and open the doors and crawl under to look. It will be obvious if there are hydraulic cylinders or lines ran to slides or jacks.

As far as Gens, what do you want to run? I have zero experience with the onan. I run a small Yamaha as I don’t run my AC when dry camping. Saves weight for other stuff.

For me I run a 3000i Yamaha invertor but would want to be able to run full 50 amp only 55 lbs different from the present gen to go to 6500i Yamaha

We have an onan in our toy hauler and I love it. Its very good on fuel and quiet. Nice thing is it will run everything in the RV.

What I plan on doing next year is up grading to a Magnum hybrid inverter.

It will draw from batteries to help kick start an AC and then the small gen will be able to run the AC. But they are not the cheapest things. Also bigger battery bank to run all the 110 in the Alpine. But I’m getting off topic.

Electrically operated, cable driven slides & electric screw leveling jacks on our MHC. I can't help you on the generator question.

The high country has cable slides, 4 cables per slide with a single electric motor. The leveling is the electric 3.0 ground control system, either 4 or 6 depending on the size of the unit.

As for the generator, the Onan is a great unit, but will cost you around $7,000 to add. It also runs off your LP since you don’t have a toy hauler. If you are trying to run the generator, furnace, fridge, stove, etc while dry camping you will go through a lot of LP. Personally, I would get two 3000 watt inverter types and parallel them. I use the Firman 3300s. They’re quiet, have remote start, and cost about 1/2 the price of a Yamaha or Honda. You can get two and a parallel kit for about $2000. That should run everything on a 50 amp coach.
