Acadia, Bar Harbor and Searsport Maine

Howdy all,

My wife and I are traveling from northeast CT to visit Acadia and Bar Harbor the first week of October this fall. We will be staying about an hour south in the town of Searsport at a campground named Searsport Shores Ocean Front Camping. Any thoughts or suggestions on must do's? Even more important, what not to do, lol. Has anyone ever stayed at this campground?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Spent a week there a few weeks ago. Nice campground. Sites are close together so you'll get to know your neighbors! Visit Bar Harbor, Schoodic Pt. (North Acadia) much nicer and less people! Sears Island & Fort Pt. also great destinations for an afternoon walk &/or picnic.

Thanks for the info. We are really looking forward to the trip. Stopped at Bar Harbor once while on a cruise. Getting dropped off with 5000 others probably wasn’t the best way to visit the small town. Two of the days we are in the area are cruise ship free days so we plan to hit Bar Harbor those days. We will be sure to check out Sears Island and Fort point.
