I bought the trailer from a dealer and he gave me 5 years of in and out and winter storage as I can't have this 32 ft trailer on my property. I got a call..." Hey sorry..we hit your trailer with our bucket loader".. We will fix it.
Never had any problems with this but now I'm wondering if it's going to start leaking after the dealer fixes it.
I don't want to start complaining but I wonder just how many corners they will cut to "fix it right"... they said they are ordering a new diamond plate but that's all they said.
Anything big to check when they say it's a done. I can imagine ever getting those screws back into that plywood again without it leaking or 3 tubes of caulk all over the place.

Ouch!! Sorry your trailer got hit but it’s not that bad. I don’t see any sidewall damage so odds are the structure is straight.

They need to replace the diamond plate and the corner molding. It’s not a complicated repair, and as long as they use butyl tape under the molding you should be good.

I'd still use it for Labor Day the way it is if it was mine, the damage doesn't look that bad. If you expect bad weather, water proof tape over the damaged area and go have fun.

^^^ Great advice above x2. It's superficial damage, nothing structural and is an easy repair. Assuming that since the dealer "fessed up to the damage" it appears he is doing the right thing so far. I wouldn't be overly concerned that his attitude would change midstream. That said, be sure to inspect his work when completed and get answers to any questions...

Since it's not structural, I'd cover it with some waterproof material/tape and wouldn't let something like this slow down or change the summer's plans.

I do not worry about what if's, life is too damn short. Check the paperwork or ask, normally any work done has a warranty. After the repair, hose it down real good and check for leaks. My guess is the repair is going to be as good or better then the factory build. If not make them keep fixing it until it is.

Does not look bad to me either. I would ask the dealer to "please" seal it up temporarily so you can use it and then repair it on his time and not yours ...... the season is short enough. It's a busy time for him also, so it may be advantageous to both of you. JM2¢, Hank :USA2: Enjoy the holiday and travel safely.

4 out of 4 moderators agree, go camping. Have an extra cold drink, it'll help.

I will make it 5 out of 5 members. They aren't going to get the repair completed by labor day anyway, so tape it up as suggested above and get the repair scheduled for next week after Labor Day since it is purely cosmetic and won't affect the safety of the trailer.

Well, now it is 6 out of 6. Remember the lyrics from the '60's Temptations: "A smile is just a frown turned upside down." Follow up on the good advice given above. Either that or you'll be inundated with stories much worse than yours! (Dear God, please don't let me go there...)

I agree with the others. But I would ask the dealer if it wouldn't be a problem if they could make it usable for Labor Day weekend. They may not let you until it's fixed.

Nope...It's your trailer, insist that they do a temporary fix and GO CAMPING! Real fix when you return. :)

We had a similar incident on a trip a couple of months ago, and had to make a roadside repair. We ended up using a plastic cutting board and duct tape made by the folks that make Gorilla Glue. We can't say enough good things about that Gorilla duct tape, it is like an adhesive plastic that is super strong... highly recommended!

That happened to my Outback in the rear wall. Repair shop took ownership and fixed nicely and layed diamond plate across the rear.
