Has anyone camped at Rife Gap State Park in Rifle, CO. We are headed up that direction in late September to try and take in some Colorado Color. Looks like a nice place on the website but you like some info from anyone that has stayed there.

Spent 2 weeks there June 2018. We enjoyed the park. Stayed in the upper mid loop.
Great park to stay and use as base camp. Sites were large, roads wide.
From town good drive, just don't miss the turn at bowling alley, then go slow around curve.
Safe trip. Will go back there

Agree with M&M. We were there 2017 Aug. Be aware that Rife Fall SP is just up road, People going to the falls and caves ( caves a must for the kids) have to drive thru their campground. so I would think twice before camping there.
Rife Gap State Park the staff was very nice, small town people.

As with many of our reservoirs, there is not a lot of trees or shade right by the lake. And if the water is down while you are there, it can be quite a hike to get to the water.

As M&M said, it is a great jumping off point for day trips. In addition to fall colors (need good timing for that) Rifle falls, the fish hatchery and if you can hike it the upper portion is a hidden gem in the woods, Colorado National Monument, Harvey Gap SP fishing, Glenwood Springs has lots to do (highly recommend the cavern tour and mountain coaster if you can take it).
