What's the better value F350DRW or F450?

Playing around on the Ford web site I came up with about a $2500 difference between 2 trucks built with the same options only differences being weight/tow ratings, gear ratio 4.10/F350, 4.30/F450 and 17' wheels vs.19.5 wheels,etc apples to apples.
If the DW wants to up grade to a 5th wheel, the truck is getting upgraded too. When I got my current truck there was only about a $300 difference between a F250 SRW and a F350 SRW I went with the 350
To me the 450 still seems the better value with the 19.5 wheels compensating for the price diff

The 19.5" wheels would be worth it to me....

But I already have the wide F450 front end in my F350

The only problem is that I would need a bigger garage as neither would fit

IIRC the 450 has “wide track” front end and a tighter turning radius than a 350

Check on vehicle licensing fees. In this state a 450 is always a truck as to the 350s can be a pickup unless used as a comm vehicle. (That's the short version)
Nothing different about the drivers license. If it was me and I was looking at a large 5er a 450 would be a great choice no matter if the plates cost more. A co worker at the PD also moves horses around the country as a business. He has At least 3 trucks I know of, a 350, 450 and one bigger not sure what it is. He says the 450 a 2013? with the 6.7 4x4 9ft bed is the go to truck. I may buy it when it is for sale. He wants my 350 when I am ready to sell. He says the only problem is the empty ride is noted to be rough, he says more then a 350. I have never drove or rode in it.

We currently own two F450's and one F350 (for hauling horse trailers as well as our RV). We really like the F450s, but they are both 4 wheel drive and sit a bit higher than the F350. But as above, the turning radius is much improved on the F450, which make it our go to truck(s). They do ride a bit rougher when empty than the F350. Additionally, all the F450s are DRW which make them a bit tight in a parking lot. I always back into spaces so I know I can get out! Good luck on your choice...

For an individual, I spoke to my insurance agent when weighing differences between 3500 and 4500 trucks. The 3500 is an additional vehicle on my group policy. The 4500 would be on its own commercial policy, regardless if it was for personal use or not! The 4500 C&C trucks cost what a 3500 pickup costs, has less hp, and you still have to pay for a bed to go on it. The money for a MaxTow 3500 won out easily!
