Hello,i have a 05 z281 zeppelin trailer,i was wondering if anyone out their still has the 'oldies' ,ive had mine anout 8years and i was looking to see if and what problems are people having with the older units,love the camper,thanks

We just bought a 2005 Z181....so far, so good. PLanning a brake and bearing overhaul to go with the new tires.

I have a 2005 Z II - 242. I’ve had only one major problem (rotten floor) and some minor ones.

The floor was rotten due to previous owners lack of maintenance. The silicone caulk above the j-wrap let water in and after a few freeze/thaw cycles the floor got weaker and weaker until I tore it up this year.

My replacement floor is stronger than the factory floor but weighs a bit more. (100 pounds or so)

Other than that everything else has been routine travel trailer maintenance like lap sealant, wheel bearings etc.

Overall I like this trailer; real wood cabinetry, torsion beam suspension and light enough I can tow easily with my Durango. 18012

Nice job on tearing up the floor,im guessing im going to be doing the same soon,it just feels spongy,question did you rip eerything out of it to tear up the floor or you just did a lay over??

I started by scoring the linoleum and pulling it up. I found that the top layer of plywood was wet and rotting, I hit it with the claw end of my framing hammer and the top layer of plywood came up.

The floor is a sandwich of ¼” plywood and 1 ½” polystyrene framed over aluminum box section framing.

There is a “vapor barrier” tarp like material under the floor, take care not to cut this when you demo your floor.

I cut out an entire section of floor from the baggage compartment bulkhead to the dinette.

I rebuild the floor in sections between the aluminum with ¼” OSB and used 2x4 studs milled down to the correct width for support and then put two layers of pink foam insulation between the new floor “joists”

I used plywood for the top layer and will reinstall lino over the winter.

Good luck! It is quite a task; give yourself some time and consider an oscillating multi-tool as it was a huge help with cutting old flooring out and trimming the foam to fit the final structure.
