Anyone ever replace the wood inside the side storage door of a 5th wheel? Apparently the drain holes in mine were plugged and the rain water could not escape and rotted the bottom part of the door.

Local dealer says part is $250 with $200 shipping fee to Michigan. And of course there is a labor fee to replace.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check Trekwood to see if they carry it.

Thank you for the suggestion, however, all I can find is teakwood furniture. Is there a particular site for the Teakwood suggestion?

Sounds like you need to find as different dealer.

Put your trailer year/model in your signature so folks know what trailer is being discussed. Also, is it possible that the gutter drain piece is too short and the water comes down the side from that and gets into your compartment? The compartment frame is inside and there may be holes for draining but I don't recall that being the case. The frame for the door is L shape as I recall.

If the door rotted, it would be more cost effective to build a new one yourself. I suspect the door is only available through a Keystone dealer and the shipping charged is often much more than the door itself. I went through this with a Forest River compartment door.

Thanks to everyone for their information! I did call Trekwood, price $205 for door, $350 for crating and shipping. Good news is they are located in Elkhart, IN and that isn't a bad drive for me. If I pick it up, I only have to pay the price of the door. So, I'll attempt to fix it myself (with my neighbors help) and if I screw it up too badly, I can always drive to Elkhart and pick one up.

Door was approximately 60" x 24". According to parts person I talked to at Trekwood, Keystone requires all of its parts to be packaged quite well before shipping.

I'm very fortunate that I have a neighbor very skilled in repairing all types of things. I had $51 of expenses for plywood, contact cement, foam, mineral spirits, etc.

Door looks as good (or better) as when I purchased the trailer.
