Galley tank valve?

Hi. I am new to RV’ing and have just purchased a 2016 Cougar 24SABWE. The Control Panel seems to indicate that there is a black, a grey and a galley waste water tank. However, although I can see the valve release handle for the black and the grey tank, I can find no such handle for the galley tank. If I get underneath the trailer, I can see the long waste pipe coming out of the belly underneath the kitchen sink, and running about 10 feet to the black/grey valve outlet. But I just cannot find the release handle for the galley tank. What am I missing? Hope someone can tell me where to look. Thanks

It could possibly have fallen off. Is there a hole near the other handles where it may have been? I am assuming you have a covered underbelly. Or could it be the same handle for both tanks?

On my 2005 Cougar the galley dump valve is behind the axles, makes it hard to see.

Thanks. I’ll take a closer look. I hope the galley handle hasn’t just fallen off. That would seem to create a whole different problem.

On rear kitchen models, the tank is below the sink generally and the dump valve will be towards the front where the water pipe heads to the main dump. On my rear kitchen 5ver, you have to basically crawl under the slide to the back of the rear tire to find the valve.

yup, mine too, up in the wheel well behind and above the right rear tire. Very hard to find if you didn't know it was there, and hard to reach.:nonono:

Pretty sure you have 2 grey tanks with separate dump valves. The cavities under the trailer where these tanks are installed only allow for a certain size. Specs for your trailer show a 38 gallon black tank and 76 gallon "total" grey. So two 38 gallon grey tanks.
Like your set up, our bathroom grey dump valve is next to the black tank dump valve. Our galley grey tank dump valve is located behind the passenger side rear wheel. Easily reachable with the slide in. These handles are only threaded in to the valve or to a cable that operates the valve. They can/do come loose and fall off. I got lucky and was able to thread a new one on with minimal cursing. Also used some loctite to make sure that was the last time I'd need to worry about it.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I’ve spent an hour looking everywhere on the underside of the trailer, and there really is no dump valve for the galley waste tank. Not that I can find, anyway. This means that when I remove the bayonet cover From the dump valve, water from the galley tank starts to flow out, so I have to very quickly get the flexible waste pipe attached. It’s not too bad, because the water pressure isn’t too high. But it does seem a poor design. How about installing a 1 1/2 inch dump valve into the pipe from the galley waste tank to the main dump valve? That looks like an easy fix. Anybody tried this?

My 2018 cougar has 2 grey tanks,galley and bathroom sink and shower,they both drain into one waste valve.was use to having 2 gray valves on my other trailers,when you drain the gray waste,check your monitors on your control panel,they should both say empty

Get a Valtera twist on gate valve for the end your waste pipe to end the mess when hooking up.

I had a 2008 Cougar 292rk and the valve to release the galley grey tank was located on the road side rear. No where near the black and grey tank. You had to get down to see it and it wasn’t labeled.

You might look closely at the frame & belly cover.

Look for wear or scrape marks & maybe some foam insulation put around an unusual place.

My 2020 cougar has the valve handle just behind the slide.

When the handle came off, I had to use a new shaft & carefully push it in the hole until I felt scraping. Then slowly moved it from outside till I felt resistance of the valve end threads.

Once it was reattached I always turn it clockwise so it stays tight.

Good luck finding the former exit hole. Then it's patience.

I posted the original question, and yes, I’m still here. ��. Still not been able to locate the galley tank dump Valve handle, so did as suggested and got a twist-on gate valve for the end of the dump pipe. That works okay, but still a bit frustrating that I can’t locate the galley dump valve without cutting into the underbelly. But, I now have a workable solution.

Well, I've not even hit newbie level yet, as i've only spent 3 hours in my used 2018 during my PDI...but... when the guy was going over my panel, it also had the galley waste indicator, but he said to ignore it as they used the same panel in multiple models and mine did not have the additional tank... so this is a grain of salt thought ;)
