New member in San Diego area

My wife jumped into the full timer (currently stationary) RV life almost exactly a year ago. We sold our house and bought a 2017 Outback 330RL and we've never looked back. We are fortunate enough that we found a super nice RV park that has no length of stay restrictions (shameless plug...Champagne Lakes, Escondido, CA).

We added a Splendide washer/dryer combo and installed a second AC in the bedroom as the single 15k main unit struggled to keep the trailer cool on its own.

I will say that we weren't particularly thrilled with the dealer we bought our trailer from. They had no idea how some of the systems worked, auto level jack system for instance, and correcting some cosmetic issues that we pointed out on our initial walk through.

Once we forced them to make the corrections that we found we haven't had any issues to speak of in the last year. If we had to do it over again I think we would buy the same trailer as we really enjoy the features and floor plan.

Hahah.. I gotta say I looked at the floor plan of your rv.. looks like a great full time plan for you guys. With the kids getting older, and me getting older too, climbing around myctru k like a monkey to set up my rtt is getting old, and we like the idea of having a trailer as basecamp rather than packing up the tent whenever we want to explore somewhere.. so travel trailer it is. If I'm going out without family, I'll just take the tru k with tent, but most of our excursions are full family getaways now... so trailer makes the most sense for what we do.

I was at Miramar (when it was still Blue and Gold) ... or at least my mail went there while I was "out of country" from '76 - '85 and had a house in Escondido until 1990 when I finally convinced my wife that there really was life east of 15 ... :) she's still not completely convinced of that.

I was primarily an east coast sailor, home of record was CA, go figure...I spent 7.5 years on the carrier USS Independence (CV-62), brought it around the horn to San Diego. I was an MM1(SW) when I got out. We lived in Santee for 25 years, sold our house to our son and started this lifestyle.

My wife Machelle picked our floor plan, my only requirement was the "theater" seating had to have a head on view to the main TV, and I wanted a table and chairs for the eating area in case we wanted to convert it to an office area, which we ended up doing. We took the table chairs out and put a desk in their place. Bonus points for the washer/dryer...I hate everything about going to laundry mats.

Well, you spent 7.5 years on the Independence. You should feel like you have plenty of space. All you need now is lots of noise and you'll feel right at home. Welcome from NW Ohio. I was on the USS Forrestal for a long year and a half.

^^^^Hah, our berthing space for "M Division" had 120 +/- crammed into our berthing space, racks were three high,and two rows deep. Essentially 12 guys in a space 12' long and 6 feet wide, including the bunks. Not to mention we were under the aft end of the flight deck...controlled crashes and the whine of the arresting gear motors.

To keep it on topic, if you can live/sleep through those circumstances, the minor issues with a new trailer are insignificant.

We've had no issues with our trailer once my punch list on the walk through/PDI was over.

Yeah, when I first got to the Forrestal, I was on the night crew. Our berths were in 03 187 L right under the number 4 wire. I didn't sleep for 3 days, now I sleep through anything. And thanks for your service.
