First time rv’er and going full time

Hi my wife and I bought a 2016 Ford F-350 Double cab 6.7L Diesel long box to pull a 2018 Cougar 366RDS. We are trying to figure out what generator to get and what else to get. Picking unit up June 25.

Good on ya, Sonny! Might I ask where you are going to put your generator and what expectations do you have for it. In other words, what do you need it to run, that sort of thing.

We would like to have it just portable and put it outside away from the unit. If we could run at least the one a/c, water heater/pump some lights and tv. Charge the battery etc. I have been watching YouTube. I realize we have to be careful with energy use. I might change my two 12v for four 6v and get a Champion 3500W I verter

I have had 4 gennys and gave up the ones that take 2 people to lift. These newer types that take 2 2000w and connect them when you need that much power like the A/C is what I did. There are several brands to look at. I choose the yammy 2000 for those reasons light wt. quiet and was going to get the 2nd unit 4 years ago but have not gone to the hot areas where a A/C is needed off grid yet. So, I still have just 1. The 2000 works the unit great. I do not use the microwave and coffee maker at same time but, no other overload issues. I went with all LED lighting.

I would suggest one of the better brands, a Honda or Yamaha. Get a single 2000 or 2200 and see how it goes. If need be get the second one. We do higher elevations in the summer and if it is that hot, we either go up in altitude or get a rv park space.

There are a ton of clones, Harbor Freight, etc, but Honda and Yamaha are the proven ones. Less than 50lbs, easy to move. The 3500 Champion is just to heavey for me to handle.
