Help! We took our first camping trip a few weeks ago and we discovered the hot water heater and fridge were not working. We were hooked up to 30amp. Tried to run propane. No luck. We just noticed there isn’t a battery where a battery clearly should be. Could this have something to do with the power to hot water and fridge? We are going on another trip Thursday! And I can deal without hot water but really would like to have a fridge!! Any advice will be much appreciated!!

You need the battery for 12v operation. That would include the igniters for the propane side of fridge and WH. Is this a new or used trailer?

You're missing the basics for the electrical operation of the trailer. No battery - you need to get one.

More information is needed !!!
What trailer: Brand , year and model ???
What refrigerator: Brand and model ???
What Water Heater: Brand and model ???

Is the trailer new and under warranty or is it an older trailer that you purchased from a dealer? or from a private owner? If it was used, do you have a means to contact the previous owner to ask if those two appliances were functional?

You said tried propane and no luck. Did you try the stove? Will it light? We need a lot more info to help you out. The systems are sort of complicated and depend on each other in many ways (electric/12v/120v/propane).

Ok! That’s all I needed to know! We just discovered the missing battery a few hours ago. Just were not clear on how the entire electrical system does work!

Thank you!

There is a lot of good reading on here on all of the technical aspects of owning a trailer. It sounds like this is your first camper so there is a lot to learn. There is a lot to do to protect your investment and others on the road. We were all there once.

Sourdough,

The stove is firing, we have a battery plugged in. And now I’m getting lights in the fridge but no cooling. The ON and GAS check if flashing are both flashing on the fridge. We are currently plugged into our house. Gas is OFF.

Ashley, first off, welcome to the forum. Secondly, you have a 13 year old RV and we expect to see you back here every so often to ask more questions. It's just how it works with RV's, old or new. Don't be a stranger, join right in.

The time between your last 2 posts are typical of the time it takes for the fridge to cool down. These aren't household type appliances. That fridge is most likely ammonia gas hand requires heat to operate, either a propane flame or a 120 volt heater.
Just a future thought, don't pull your trailer without a battery. There is a safety device that is a cable that connects to your tow vehicle and runs to a pin in a box on the frame of the trailer. If your trailer disconnects from the tow vehicle the cable pulls the pin out and energizes the electric brakes. That box is connected to the battery.
