:ermm: Our 27RL Campfire has the stock dealer provided 12v Die Hard, 24M (50024) M-2 550 CCA battery installed. I have seen a video about adding a second battery which recommended making sure both batterirs are new. What I am wondering is: Is a unit's system limited to what the dealer has provided. For instance, do I have to stick with the 24M, or can I go with a higher "M" number as long as both are the same? If I did this now, I would stick with a 24M, but from a different manufacturer......if doable. It has been my experience that Die Hards do just that..........they die hard. Tnx.

You can put in whatever batteries you want, and if they are going in a box, just make sure there is room for them. Your type of camping should dictate the Amp rating and number of batteries to install. If your only going to camp with hookups then a single gp24 battery will be plenty. If your going to “dry camp” then you want the most Amp hours you can get.

I don’t think I would mix battery manufacturers.

Just saw your PM. Yes they should match 24/24 or 27/27,etc.

I changed out the one 12V battery that came with my T.H. to the Trojan T105 six volt golf cart batteries. Of course, you have to have enough room to put them wherever your battery is located (if did) and you will have to purchase a new battery box to place them in (I did). So I went from approx. 80AHs of battery to about 230AH of battery. I don't really dry camp, but it's nice to know that there is plenty of reserve battery for my use if there is a power interruption wherever I'm at. And if things go from bad to worse, I can always fire up the 5500W Onan.
