Driving two hours to look at it, listed for 19,900 salesman said he would come down to $18k out the door and it would have everything running from hot water to ac/heat, refrigerators etc... and would throw in a starter kit??
This would be our first rv so any thoughts on this model, price?

Also looking at the Andersen Ultimate Hitch so I can remove easily when not towing. Any thoughts on that model..... I have a Ram 3500 with the 5th wheel towing package ie.. pucks in the bed.

Rich, I looked at a couple online and it seems like the price is about average, maybe a touch high. Most important in your examination of this 5v'er is a search for water damage. ANY bulge in the filon should get your attention immediately. There will be a PDI list on this site for you to use. Another important item to inspect is the age and brand of the tires on this unit. You are looking at a trailer approaching eleven years old. If the date of manufacture is more than four years ago make sure that new tires become part of the deal. For all practical purposes tread depth is of no consequence.
Keep us up on your progress. Eleven years is a long time in RV life.

Hmmmmm,

First thanks for taking the time to look up values and again for the valuable comments.
The one that makes me even second guess driving down there is the statement about 11 years is old in an rv. We are on a budget and the last thing we need is a money pit.

Also very important is to poke at the floor all over for water damage soft spots. Especially in slide corners edges, and garage floor on a toy hauler. Seems to be a quite a few toy hauler garages with rotted floors.

Thanks for the heads up Greenie, I am really second guessing even driving 2 hours away to look at an rv that old.

It’s just my wife and I and we didn’t need anything that big but we both wanted a separate garage so we didn’t have to pull the toy out for an overnight stop. We have been looking at bumper pulls but saw this one and liked the floor plan.

You guys can see pics on JohnsRVs in Lexington,SC

Rich, after looking at the online spread at the RV dealer I would be of the opinion that it DOES warrant a good look. I realize that the cleaning crew at the dealership can work wonders, but this unit comes with everything but a second AC unit. Why not invest a few hours of your time and see what comes of it?

Thanks AGAIN for your due diligence, we are leaving shortly to head down there and look at it.

Pin weight says 2100lbs and our side by side weighs 1700lbs
Obviously it’s a one ton truck but I don’t have air ride suspension, is that required?

I also bought a used unit and getting them for half of new price does add some sugar to the deal. I decided that by buying a bit older and being prepared to fix what I have to , there was better value for me. They depreciate rapidly to a point. Most of my friends buying brand new had to fix things too. I hope she meets your needs. I would go look. :)

Well just left the viewing, Outside appearance was brutal. All graphics either gone or peeling off.
Awning was done
Tires were 2.5 years old
One soft spot at rear floor of garage in corner by back door.
There was some caulking done around bottom of front slide but floor seemed solid as a rock.

The good, interior was spotless
Panel showed generator only having 26.5 hours on it, could that be right on a 10 year old rv?

Wife wants to buy for right price, it’s just that it is butt ugly on the outside. There is one spot where one owner peeled a graphic off and painted with with spray can.

I asked them if there was a car fax or anything like that for rv’s and he said no. I asked if there was a way to tell how many owners it had , he said no.

I will post some pics of outside later

Here’s a few more pics,

I googled removing graphics and that can be done but it is a lot of work. Because I would have to peel off all graphics and then basically buff the gelcoat of the entire trailer.

That brown stuff around the black water pipe was foam insulation that was discolored.

The other photos were of the bottom and side of the bedroom slide, as mentioned it was a bad caulk job but floor was solid as a rock.

I called them back and offered $15k, I would feel like I could put some elbow grease into the exterior and repair the items in question and would have a sound trailer for the price.

After seeing the comments and pics what do you guys think?

I would offer 12k, taking that all off because the glue is baked on is going to be a chore, very doable but a chore. ask the salesman what they would charge to remove, buff and reinstall and I think you will side with me.

Be sure to inspect the roof and sealants.

The graphics won't affect the daily use. And it gives you AND Momma something to do together. Don't even look up the price of new decals. You would never return the investment. But make sure Momma is in on the amount of work required. And no, 27 hours on a generator is not unheard of. Most generator use is short term.

I guess I should have done my homework a little more thorough before we went down there.
I found what looks to be a current model 5th wheel Fuzion 2017 model for 49,995 on sale. So a unit that is 10 years old wouldn’t seem to be worth even the $15k I offered especially in the condition it’s in.

There was an article in the Feb issue of Trailer Life magazine detailing (pun intended) a "face-lift" for an older Cameo fifth wheel. By the time the owner paid an RV service center to compound/polish the FILON siding and remove/replace the decals, the bottom line was $4,000. That did not include any sealant repair, parts that needed replacement, no roof maintenance or any sealing of the doors, windows or roof and attachments. Here's the link so you can read about that "event": http://www.trailerlife.com/rv-gear/changing-an-rvs-stripes/

So, you're looking at spending at least $4,000 and possibly much more to have that trailer "commercially refurbished". That is, if they don't find any significant damage. Now, doing the work yourself can easily save you a significant amount of money, but you shouldn't have to pay for the privilege of working on your own trailer, so offer them a "fair price" minus the cost you'll incur (your sweat-equity is valuable) in refurbishing this trailer.

It looks like a floorplan you and your DW can agree on, so if it works for you and you can get it for a price that makes it worth repairing, then consider it. If, however, the dealership is looking for a "patsy" to take it off their hands with them making a substantial profit, I'd walk away and keep looking. For the right price, it could be a great buy, but you don't need to be the reason they meet their annual profit goals, if you know what I mean......

Hey John,

I totally understand what you mean and thanks for the input. Here is the big deal and it confuses me. My wife won’t even go to Walmart unless makeup is applied, hair done and dressed nicely but yet she doesn’t get it why I wouldn’t want to roll down the road in an rv that let’s say it was as sound as a new one yet looked bad like this one UNTIL it was repaired.

We have a couple of other irons in the fire so we will probably pass on this one.

I just picked up a 2008 fuzion 362 for 8,500.00, all decals are peeled off, solution is a eraser wheel for 20.00( body shop uses them). Both my slides have rotted floors and need replaced and my garage ramp needs to be repaired to! But other than that it’s in decent shape, I’ll do the work myself as the camper deal wants to charge 2gs just for bed room slide and 5g for the main slide. Which is crazy, especially when they will just replace with osb and not even marine grade plywood.
