Yamaha Generator Cables Side Winder and Twin Tech

Whats the difference besides price? They both seem to do the same thing (parallel cables to hook two generators together to getup to 4k of power from 2 2k generators. The Twin Tech looks more durable, but is it nescessary for an RV application?

I do not know what the difference is between the 2. But, if you want to run a A/C and other stuff in a RV you need at least 3500 watts and 4,000 is what most use. I had a AF camper with build in genny of 3600 w. It worked fine here in the 80 to 90 temps but, when in CA. summer temps in the 115 range it could not keep up. I had to run the A/C on low.

The web site really dosen't give a good description or comparsion on both of them. I like the idea of 2 generators.
1. Hook up 2 for full power to run AC, microwave and other high wattage electric accessories when needed
2. Still have one for reserve power if one decides to quit running.
3. The ability to take one with you if need power for a job some where else away from camp, but still have power at camp.

I have the Sidewinder, made well enough enough for our needs. I've used it for 2 seasons.

I have two of the original Yamaha 2000is generators and a 15kw AC. I never had an issue with them running in NH. Last summer I installed a Smartstart electronic starting unit. I tested it with a single Honda 2000 and it worked but I have not tested it with my Yamaha because it is reported not to work with them.

I've never tried it while at 115°...not an issue in New Hampshire ;)

I was planning on running the same set up as you, and was also thinking about installing a Smart Start on my 15K A/C. I was looking at a unit from Micro- Air, not sure if it is the same and was unaware of the Yamaha incompatibility.
The most we deal with up here is like the Mid 80's in the interior

I have the Micro-Air unit.

The original Yamaha 2000is has a crappy overload rating and creates dirty power when overloaded. It's not that it's incompatible, it's just that that one of them doesn't have enough juice to run the AC. Two connected with the Sidewinder will run it fine.

The Yamaha V2 version will run an AC with the Smartstart according to the posts I've read on the subject.

I've been using an aftermarket parallel cable for 5 or 6 years with 2 Yamahas. I don't recall the name but sidewinder sounds right and it works as it should.

Thanks I have the V2 version of the Yamaha generator I am gonna go to the dealer this week and see what they can tell me about the two cables.
