LOOK... CLOSELY AT THE FIRST PHOTO
Don't go to photo #2 until you look at #1 closely..
Look at the 1st picture and you can see where this driver
broke through the guardrail, on the right side of the culvert,
where the people are standing on the road, pointing....
The pick-up was traveling about 75 mph from right to left
when it crashed through the guardrail.
It flipped end-over-end bounced off and across the culvert outlet,
and landed right side up on the left side of the culvert,
facing the opposite direction from which the driver was traveling.
The 22-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger
Were unhurt except for minor cuts and bruises.
Just outside Flagstaff , AZ , on U.S. Hwy 100.

NOW, look closely at the second picture:angel:

That my friends is just pure mega luck, a miracle or whatever you want to call it. I hope the driver learns something from it since he and the passenger were saved from what surely would have been a death sentence. Yes, WOW!

That's definitely a code brown moment. Amazingly lucky.

This one popped up in my news feed yesterday. Another very lucky soul. Obviously not the brightest bulb either..

A lot of things to be said about this moron. He could have caused people to kill themselves due to his stupidity. Hopefully the LEO will take that into account when citing him and hopefully jailing him.

Maybe we should take a step back when thinking this guy should be jailed. Give me any three examples where stupid drivers are jailed for accidents that injure no one.
Honestly, you want to jail an individual for acting stupidly? Think about that one.....

No, maybe not but perhaps a dope slap would serve as a reminder.

Speaking of stupid driving - waste a half hour someday and go on You Tube and look at some of their dash cam crash videos. You don't need to look at the Eastern European vids, only the US/Canada. We all make mistakes driving, it's part of life. Some of the clowns driving on those videos do need that jail time to reflect on their actions

He don't need jail now, he just got his death sentence denied.
He definitely needs to get down on that scraped up knee & thank the good Lord for sparing his dumb a##!
IMHO they need to not sell crotch rockets to anyone under 30 & then not without an examination to proof their sanity.

I think so in some cases. In this one, his acts could have, but apparently didn't, cause someone (maybe many someone's) to take evasive action injuring/killing themselves. Sort of like shooting a weapon at someone; although you didn't hit them and no one was injured, you're going to jail....or,

Driving around the loop in Alamogordo, NM one day I saw a nut swerving all over the oncoming lanes (divided 4 lane) so I slowed up, in a bit he just came across the median at 65mph or so, flew up over the edge and into our lanes almost hitting a motorhome head on (I had stopped). The motor home was locked up and howling trying to miss this guy that went on across the road and crashed. I stopped to check on the motor home and the passenger plus dog had been thrown forward and gotten banged up but OK; the inside looked a mess - but no one was hurt per se. About that time the guy got going so I got in my Hummer made a U and followed him with 911 on the line. He ran across the 4 lane 2 more times, ran into and knocked down a steel stop sign, veered down a side road and parked in front of a trailer. I waited for about a minute and 2 unmarked cars and a sheriff's dept. vehicle showed up. They went to get him but he wouldn't come out so they went in and got him - he went to jail. I know, these are not the same but many people go to jail for stupid mistakes.....as they should depending on what it was. In the case of the biker I'm not talking about life, just 3-5 days or so to tame down that giddy "that was so cool" mentality and hopefully inject a little "real life" into the situation.

Edit: In the above scenario he was taken away in handcuffs; I ASSUME he was jailed and I think I vaguely remember reading about it in the paper but I'm not 100% sure.

I am a little lost on your calling the rider out! He was traveling in the left lane of the road, NOT a shoulder. That wiggle can happen to cycles and like sway is hard to control. Yes, he was very lucky.

Yea, it's called "a tank slapper". Easing off of the throttle *slowly* will settle things down (and never ever hit the brakes when it's happening) but it's a hell-of-a-ride until then.

One of the millennial traits that is often seen and causes a lot of head shaking, is their inability to predict outcomes from certain actions. Must be a vitamin smart deficiency!

Many (not all) and maybe most "young people" (no discrimination of males or females, but insurance companies usually charge more for young males) have a sense of "youthful immortality"... I found in my practice that until they "mature" (that age is very different with different people) and start to understand that they aren't invincible, they tend to take unnecessary risks.

I've heard many of the "qualifiers" or "excuses" used by teens and young adults. Things like:

I can drink and drive because I know where they set up the DUI roadblocks.
They won't catch me speeding because I know where they hide their radar.
I can downshift and control a slide, so I can drive faster through the curves.
My reaction times are faster than old people's reaction times, so they need to slow down.
I always wear my seat belt on the interstate, but I don't need it when I'm driving slow.

The list goes on and on.... A member of motorcycle forum I'm on (he's 30) made a comment about his accident. it went something like this: I damn near killed myself, spent 6 months recovering and I'm not taking those risks any more. It hurts too much to survive.

Once "youthful minds" comprehend "immortality" and "invincibility" they usually stop living at the edge. But there are some who go to their grave as a "risk taker" it's not age, but (I think) a frame of mind. Some people just never comprehend that immortality. Fortunately, most of us do.

I think the "fine line difference" is the transition from "I'm smart enough not to get caught" and "I'm smart enough to know the difference".....

I've driven many, many miles on bikes; on road and off road. I've had the bike shake but was always able to get it under control, since that is what needed to happen. In this case, listen to the bike at the start of the video, he's not trying to get it under control, it's more like he has no clue what he is doing while driving faster than all the other traffic. Then, his response at the end. Yep, he needs to be called out.

As a former rider and riding instructor, one of the first things stated in class is this: There are two types of riders; those that have had a wreck and those that are going to have a wreck.

I would say that the rider in the video had never been through a rider course or an advanced rider course of any type, let alone by MSF. Glad that they were able to walk or hobble away from that one.
