I assume this is the TX coast during one of the more recent hurricanes? The storm surge apparently caught a few people.

It happens more often than you think. Low tide, drive in the "wet sand" because it doesn't sink as much. Get a bit too heavy on the accelerator, dig in the drive wheels, start digging the truck out and realize the tide is coming in faster than you can dig... The water gets deeper and deeper and there's nothing you can do but watch and wait 12 hours....... well, there is one thing you can do: Watch the tide tables and don't get too close to the water.......

That's why they print local tide tables ...... Happens all the time in some areas where you must drive below the high water line to access certain sites. I've also seen a few brand new 4x4 trucks stuck in the surf when they knew the repo man was coming. :scuba: "COME AND GET IT"!!!

And let's not even talk about the Bay of Fundy in Canada, where there are markers 12 miles inland about Tidal Flooding. You can't even smell the ocean, but 12 hours later... there it is!

"Warning signs are just for the weak in spirit and those who practice the oldest dark magical arts. They are merely suggestions to those of us who know you only want to keep the most wonderful things selfishly for yourselves. We laugh at your signs of dire warnings."

-A quote, I just made up, from Michael Millennial, citizen of the world.

It happens in the mountains, down narrow roads where the only place to turn around is in that clearing, next to that HUGE dropoff, but I'm sure there's enough room before the soft sandy spot..... Don't ask me how I remember this from 40 years ago... but.....

I've spent most of my 47 married years under that chair or in the doghouse. You'd think by now I would have learned to keep my mouth shut, but what fun would that be. http://www.keystoneforums.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=251&pictureid=1107
