Non walkable roof

Well. I just got the big ol’ ladder out (finally got a nice sunny day here in SW Missouri). My question about my 2018 Outback 250URS having a walkable roof is now answered. IT AIN’T.
Guess we’ll be using the plywood thing as I plan on replacing the bathroom vent with a Fantastic Fan with cover and putting a Maxxair 2 vent cover on the center crank up vent. Nothing comes easy, huh?
I know for sure that I gotta get a ladder to keep in the camper bike storage area. There’s no way this fat boy is gonna be carting that “Little Giant” type ladder around. Boy that goober is a chunk.

You might consider a telescoping ladder. I bought my 12.5' one last year for $54. It's now up to $81, but you might find one for less. It's easy to use, easy to store, and with a pool noodle (cut in half) you can cushion the ladder rails where they lay against the trailer roof to protect your TPO roofing and the rain gutter molding. Just be careful storing it, when you push the buttons to collapse it, it can pinch pretty hard if your fingers are in the way. Don't ask me how I know, just trust me on that bit of information......

I did not want to put stress on the rubber roof. I spray glued a 1/2" foam insulation board to a sheet of luan. I cut the resulting 4x8 sheet into thirds for ease of getting up the ladder. I just move a sheet at a time foam side down.

The telescoping ladder mentioned gets a hardy thumbs up! I use mine all the time as I am too "wide" to get up the ladder mounted on the back. There is probably a one foot wide person out there but he ain't me. Ditto on the way the steps come down when retracting... pay attention to where pinkies are when retracting!

My Outback is one that has the king size bedroom slide out the back of the trailer, therefore, mounting an rv ladder isn’t an option. Theses telescoping ladders. Where are they available? Amazon, eBay, Lowe’s, Home Depot?
I sure like the pool noodle idea and the loan/foam thing. I just want something I can scoot up there and broom off the slide before I retract them. Eventually, I’ll put a topper on the dinette slide. There isn’t one available for the bed slide. I did see a fella on here that made his own. Pretty sweet.

I’ll second (or third) the extending ladder. Great for a lot of uses. Cleaning leaves off the slide before closing, accessing your roof, hanging lights in trees, etc. You get the idea.

I have one of the telescoping ladders but not really impressed with it that much. Any use of it requires leaning it against the RV so I purchased a Werner ladder nearly identical to the little giant but rated for 300# instead of 250# the giant is rated at. Doesn't seem to be much if any weight difference from the telescoping one I had to the Werner ladder but I like the idea of being able yo access stuff without leaning the ladder against my RV.

The Werner unit is the one I have. The “Little Giant” type. It’s a pretty good chuck, but you are correct. You really don’t have to lean it against the trailer. I think I’ll just throw it in the back of the pickup when we go camping. It’ll be there when needed.

I'm coming in a few day's late, but there's a telescoping A-frame ladder that Amazon sells. I have one. it's an 8' A-frame, and it can fold out into multiple stops, one of which is 180-degrees open, which effectively turns it into a 16-foot straight ladder.
