Our first brand new trailer

My wife and I love camping. We've gone from tents to tent trailers to a 21' Jayco then a 30' Prowler and to our newest edition to the family an awesome 27SABWE. I was spoiled early with our first trailer. The Jayco had a 2000 watt Onan and a 1500 watt Trace inverter built in. When I replaced it with the Prowler I install a 3600 LPG Onan and a 2000 watt Trace. Now I'm in the process of installing the same 3600 Onan with an upgraded inverter. I lucked out and found an Aims 4000 inverter/charger brand new in the box for $500. I know its a bit overkill but how could I pass it up? It's a bit of a challenge to install but challenge accepted. We looked at every floor plan available in our price range and the SAB was by far the best. The one thing it lacks is storage. The Prowler had so much storage that I never used and we're having to really consolidate and down size our inventory. I was really surprised that the bathroom vanity doesn't have a shelf in it. The overall construction appears to be good. We're going to ring it out early January on the delta. I love the auto leveling and electric awning. The sound system was a disappointment. I installed a soundbar under the TV which helped but the inside and outside speakers sound like a transistor radio. Does anyone have a suggestion to improve those? Anyway I cant wait to enjoy it. :)

Congrats on your new purchase. Sound like you know your way around RV's so all I can say is welcome to the family. Lots of good people and tons of great information here. Factory speakers can be less than impressive in any brand. You might have luck searching the forums.

I think we have the same trailer, or very close. I was astounded at the lack of storage. My husband added a shelf that is attached to those two little shelves in that strange cut-out over the bed. I made fabric bins (free pattern and tutorial on Craftsy) which we use for clothing storage since the closets are close to useless. Made two sizes, one size for socks and undies and a larger one to roll shirts. They seem to stay on the shelf when traveling but I did get tension curtain rods at a Bed Bath & Beyond to hold them in. I guess part of the storage problem is a trade-off for having that nice big almost king-sized bed.

I think you touched on what I believe is a big deal in most RVs, the lack of usable storage space. Ultra small shallow cabinets, short closet space and cabinets you can't reach. I hope at some point, people that actually use an RV should be the ones designing them, not sure the designers can even spell camper, let alone spell storage! Its funny sometimes watching a video walk through on an RV and one of the first comments made when they walk inside is "look at all that storage space", yeah maybe for spices or a couple glasses.

After a couple months with the trailer I must say I'm a bit disappointed. What sold me on the trailer was the self leveling system. Imagine my surprise when on our first outing in the pouring down rain the system through an error code. It took me an hour to manually level the trailer. Long story short...after 2 trips back to the dealership with the same problem "After I threatened to drive the trailer through the front window for the factory denying the warranty" they found the problem. The rear sensor had been installed with the wrong screws breaking the mount and it was just flopping around in the belly. :banghead:

The factory also denied the warranty of a piece of skirting that wasn't painted properly. We took it back for it's 60 day checkup and pointed out several things that needed repair. Many of which were just shoddy workmanship. Crooked valance's, screw holes, caulking etc. Hell the water heater even faulted filling the bathroom with LPG......when it ignited it through a 2 foot blue flame out the side of the trailer. Every time I clean it somehow it gets dirty again. You know like saw dust and stuff. So I pulled out the drawers and was astounded. Nothing but debris under everything! They just built it leaving ALL the garbage covered up.

Did I make the wrong choice? Was it built on a Friday? What else is covered up? :nonono:

Sadly this seems to be typical for Keystone. I spent the first couple of weeks going through everything and fixing the mess that is passed off as quality construction......

Sure everything worked but like you I found so many little things that needed to be fixed. Yep, all the shades and valences are crooked and off centered and put up half a**ed. Access doors on the pass through storage that leaked terribly because they mounted them by screwing through the sides of the frame and not sealing up the screw holes. I've gone through every door, drawer, cabinet, all the accessible electrical and plumbing and straightened it all out.

I'm going to spend some quality time under it this summer going through everything in the underbelly and sealing it up good.

It seems to have good bones so only time will tell how well it works out for us. Luckily I have the time, tools, and skills to fix most anything that needs to be fixed so I told the dealer he wouldn't be seeing me again unless there's something seriously wrong!

After doing a pressure test the dealer told me 7 windows need to be replaced.....

Replaced.....the service manager said that it was ether a bad run of windows or they were install incorrectly at the factory. The window to frame seal is bad

I’ve pulled new windows out, cleaned and resealed. Put back in and good to go. Wonder why the dealer replaced them.
