What are your needs? Pulling your current TT, or is upgrading to a 5th wheel in the future of you owning this truck a possibility?

Towing current TT. I call our TT "The Mayflower". Upgrading to a fifth wheel is several years down the road.

By the looks of it we are dealing with a F350 SRW being that the GVWR is over 10,000 lbs. It will do the job and do it well.

On the edit, I'm not much of a Ford buff, but for specification sake's, what are we dealing with 6.2, or 6.7, and what gear ratio?

Looking at the payload, I could haul my trailer as long as I didn't load a a rick of wood in the pickup bed.

3400 lb of payload when run out really quick, with 2400 / 2600 lb of pin weight and a couple of ice chests

My only concern (and it's a paperwork issue) is the F350 with a 10500 GVW rating. With all of the enforcement potentials that are being talked about, that "optional GVW reduction" could limit the truck use and will limit trade-in value. Given your current trailer, you'll have no issues with weight and certainly no issues with power. But, that GVW reduction from the "standard 11400 to 10500 might (not will) cause some issues in years to come. Otherwise, nice truck, and it even has the fifth wheel prep package already installed.....

Javi and JRTJH, I'm more concerned to fulfill my current TT needs. I am over weight with my current TV.

I had a 2013 F250 equipped with the EL 3.73 axles, 6.2l engine and the 6 speed transmission. We towed our fifth wheel which weighs just at 10000 pounds with no problems. Gas mileage towing at 65MPH was around 8. With a headwind, down to about 6 at times, but otherwise, never better than about 8.5. We had more than enough power around Michigan that we would still have it except for some plans to travel west through some extremely high mountain passes.

With that truck, you'll be "good to go" with your current trailer and can, for the most part, upgrade to any of the Cougar XLite or Half Ton model fifth wheels without any concerns. Going to a "full height" fifth wheel, you may find that headwinds cause some issues, but the mid height models, you'd have no issues.

We travel mostly in Michigan. Lots to still explore in this great state. My DW really wants to camp in the UP. I told her that I do not feel comfortable travelling farther than the bridge with our current set up. We keep our TT in St. Helen at our cabin. So it's nice and centrally located to go any where in Michigan with minimal towing.

I think you'll like that truck and how the rig handles. Pictures when you get it home :)

Man I like it... My truck got wrecked this last Oct and I had to get a rental till they decided what to do with my Ram.. I got one like this from Enterprise..Man was I spoiled then.. I hated to give it back.. It had everything but the kitchen sink in it...it rode rough unless I was hooked to the camper...Oh well I couldn't afford anything new like this, until I retire..

I really love it. It does not have all the bells and whistles on it. It is a left over 2017. MSRP was cheaper than, what I would have thought, a properly equipped F150 would have been. Plus I wanted a heavier truck. Getting excited for camping season. I can't wait to see how it pulls my TT. Although, it would have been nice to actually pull my TT before I bought the truck. But I think this truck will do just fine!

You can't get a gas engine with 11500 GVWR or at least in 2016 the highest GVWR you could get with gas was 10,800 if I remember right.

Yes, it is a very nice truck, but don't get bitten by the POEM 17" tires that are only rated at 3,195#.

Nice truck, good luck and let us know how it tows. Just purchased a F250 several weeks ago about got everything swapped over to pull the camper. Last part came in mail today. Had a heck of time figuring out how to get my safety chains hooked into the new receiver tried several things that would be at least rated to the tags on the safety chains. Finally got the Blue ox quick links. You must have gotten several more options than my xlt had my max payload is 3351 lbs.

That's all that is, is paper work, if you make changes on the reg, they still go by the sticker on the truck. I have a 3500 DRW with a GVW of 13k, but on my reg I have it as #12,500 so I can run combo plates and not commercial. It doesn't impact the truck at all for towing and won't impact me when I trade it because the truck is still #13,500 on the door sticker, that's never changed and never will

Different laws in Michigan, so what you're doing is NOT an option here. The "paperwork issue" I was talking about is the MANUFACTURER'S GVW decal. That "once, for all time and forever" limits the truck GVW to 10,500 pounds. You can't, at a later date, declare the truck GVW at 11,500 pounds and stick on a new decal to make it a "legal GVW".... For the OP that I was addressing in that post, it won't impact him because he won't, with current intended use, need a GVW greater than 10,500.

I can relate about the chains.. they were actually a pain in the butt-tocks. I only pulled the camper 3 times with that truck but was ready to do something different if we had gone out again..

Yeah, I haven't figured out what I'm going to do about hooking the safety chains to the hitch yet. I will probably go to Tractor supply and see if they have something there that works.

That's where I ended up getting mine. I still had to grind off an 1/8 th inch of the locking tab to make them work.

On my Chevy 3500, you have to come in from the side with the hook. YMMV. Take a look to see if you have an oval slot on the side of the receiver box.

Yes, I replaced the hooks. They let me take a couple outside to test.

You do have to turn them sideways and rotate the in, but the is no side hole on the Ford.
