We are Tom and Donna and live at altitude in Colorado's beautiful mountains. We have a new(2017) Cougar 333MKS, our truck is a 2000 F250 Super Duty Crew Cab short bed with the manual transmission with a bunch of miles on it so we're hoping for the best.
This is our first RV and are looking at both retirement and relocating to a lower elevation in the "Black Hills" this next spring after 37 years with my company.
I've learned a ton of good stuff just trolling this forum, I'm so impressed with the knowledge and skill level I hope I can offer some as I get acquainted with the lifestyle.
I'm a factory maintenance mechanic lead-man, turned trainer that use to machine and rebuild engines prior to that back in the 70's, but from what I've read, you all can teach me a whole lot as this appears to be a whole world unto itself.
Glad you'll have us!!!

Welcome from the Alberta Foothills.

You are right, this forum has a lot of knowledge and I have already quit running down some rabbit trails because of it.

Sounds like you have a new adventure ahead of you, nice.

Welcome to the forum from the Memphis area. We have spent time just down the road a piece in Antero Junction/Fairplay. Beautiful area indeed.

We are in Arvada.
Still working, but hope to retire soon.
Right now we pull a 2000 Montana 3280.
Pretty HEAVY, but doable.
Looking to down size a little in the future.
The Cougar looks like what we want.
Enjoy your new Cougar.

I'm also curious as what "At Altitude" means in your intro.

We're up above the town of Bailey, S/W of Denver, Fairplay is our County seat, we're at 8900 feet and have been here since 1990. My body says I need a lower elevation I'm afraid and moving to a metro area isn't what we want.

South Park is beautiful, we have many good memories of county fairs with 4H being a large part of our younger days up here.

Been in the area many times and it is pretty. Our house in the mountains in NM is at 9000' and, like you, my body started telling me at about 62 9000' was almost too high anymore so we don't go there near as often as we used to. Good luck on finding "the" place when it's time to leave.

Howdy from a Minnesota Flatlander! From what I've read here, with the specs on your 5'er:
Dry Weight 10,315 lbs Payload Capacity 2,065 lbs.GVWR12,090 lbs.Hitch Weight 1,980 lbs. you're gonna need a Kenworth t680 to pull that!

.

So what things does elevation do to the body as we age ? Never heard this discussion before.

I should be OK as we are only at 4450' ASL here.

I've been going to high elevations all my life (up to 14k') and never had an issue. When I got about 62 I started feeling short of breath at our house at 9k. Don't smoke and lungs are in excellent shape; just "something" happened. My mom stopped going up because she couldn't breath but she had emphysema. My MIL stopped going because the altitude made her feel "funny" and dizzy. I guess our bodies keep changing and those are some of the things that happen. Of course, once past 65 you have to stay aware that you aren't 25 and that tumbles down a mountain (like my last one) stay with you a while.
