Hello.
We are both new to RV ownership.
I have driven many different kinds of trucks over the years so a 5th wheel is not intimidating to me. Wife has a learning curve ahead of her.
My learning curve is going to be the regular maintenance and pre-drive checklist and setting up checklists
We will be picking up our 'new to us' 2010 3912 Raptor on Wed.

a couple questions I have for equipment I think is going to be important to us.
What TPMS systems are recommended. I am wanting to monitor both the 3 axles on the trailer and the two on the truck The EEZTIRE is the one I am looking at currently.

Does anyone have recommendations on Cell boosters? The WeBoost Drive 4G-X RV seems like the smart purchase.

Both of these are not the cheap answers. However from my research both seem to be worth spending the money for the quality and features provided.
Any input appreciated.

Thanks and Gig'em

Welcome to the forum :wlcm:

Congrats on your new to you purchase. This is the new member check in forum and as such your questions might get better exposure and more responses if asked in another forum on this site.

Only comment I will make here is that is a LOT of trailer for a 3/4 ton truck. I think you are in over your head.

There are a couple of brands of tpms systems that the members use and I'm sure they will chime in (may need to post in the proper forum - "tires" maybe). I use the TST system and I've been happy. Also, as Chuckster noted, I think your truck will be way overloaded.

Welcome from a fellow Texan! Enjoy your new set up. As for the weight issue, I thought I was good until I rolled the scales this weekend. [emoji53]

Hi and welcome. I lived in Bryan/College Station for about 6 months. Nice community with friendly southern hospitality. Good folks down there.

So, I have to agree with what Chuckster stated about your TV. A triple axle toy hauler that has a dry weight of nearly 14,000 lbs, dry pin weight of 3,100 lbs and a GVWR of 18,000 lbs is NO match for a 3/4 ton truck. In fact, I'd bet if your TV where a 1 ton SRW truck, you'd still be overlimit on certain specs. With a 3/4 ton truck, you're just begging for a catastrophic accident.

If your TV will be something more appropriate than what's listed in your signature, disregard the preceding comments and enjoy your new rig. If not, execute your due diligence to keep you, your family, and others who share the road safe. Good luck and happy trails.

Welcome to the forum from Georgia! Listen to the people regarding your truck. I think you'll need a 350/3500 to pull your TH, IMO.

According to Fords specs The F-350 DRW 4x4 has 100lbs less capacity than the F-250. If the F-350 is 2wd it is only 100lbs more than the F-250 FX4 6.0 longbed automatic trans. It takes a F-450 with a heavy duty towing package to be able to be rated for the 3912 fully loaded (CVWR 18000lbs). I will just have to not put more than 2000lbs in the trailer unless I have a MUCH bigger truck. I had considered buying a Chevy 3/4 ton. I would be in a world of hurt had I done that with this trailer.

A few things to consider since you're new to the RV world. Saying that you'll limit your loaded weight to XXXX lbs is almost impossible, especially with a Toy hauler. Are you planning on bringing some "toys" or are you just keeping the garage empty? If your coach's garage is empty, much of what you bring will be heavy on the hitch pin, taking directly away from your payload capacity. Since I don't know what that is on your specific truck, I can only assume it's around 3,000-3,200 lbs. I don't know where 3,912 came from? When loading just 1,000 lbs in your trailer (excluding batteries, LPG, and tank water), I can only imagine that much of that 1,000 lbs will be added to your pin weight.

Secondly, your truck is approaching 12 years in service. Pushing a vehicle to its limits (and potentially beyond) at that age isn't usually advisable.

A weigh scale will tell you everything in regards to how you look when you're "ready to camp". Probably the best convincing facts you'll receive.

3912 is the model # The truck's age is significant. however when looking at 2010-2014 trucks this one popped up. 72k miles and is damn near brand new shape. It is in much better condition than any of the 2010/2011 I looked at. $15-20 less than any of the 2013/2014 with the least miles of any truck that was in my price range. and it has a 4 year Ext. Warranty. a one ton Chevy was a consideration. but it was a 2009 and was not in nearly as good a condition as this one. I am not sure the one ton Chevy had a cargo rating that much better than this F-250. I am concerned about what you are all saying. But I think (hope) I have done enough checking. 2k lbs max in the trailer rather than it's rated 4k lbs is what I need to be careful of. One motorcycle and my small tool box (I could max my load with just my tools I bet) The trailer is also in amazing shape. but picking it up has been delayed. paperwork needs to catch up from FLA to the seller. so not a Keystone owner yet. OHHH so close.

Honestly I can't figure out where your numbers are coming from... My F350 Dually has a payload of 6062 pounds and a GVWR of 14,000 pounds... Best case my '12 F250 had a payload of 2600 pounds... Actual scaled payload with the DW, toolbox, hitch, dog and ice chest... was right at 1800 pounds.
Frankly my dually would have trouble with that trailer... a GVWR of 18K is going to net right at 4,000 pounds of pin weight... The F250 you're talking about is going to have a GVWR of 9600 pounds and a payload of less than 1800 pounds.. and that's before you add the hitch, DW or GF, ice chest, toolbox, CD's or anything else...

It ain't about what it's rated to PULL.... It's about what it can CARRY...

Caoimhin, let's look at your statement "According to Fords specs The F-350 DRW 4x4 has 100lbs less capacity than the F-250." Respectfully, I ask you to read what you wrote and tell me if that is what you really meant to say. As others have mentioned, the payload of a run of the mill 350 dually is about 6,000 pounds. The payload on your F250 is about two loaves of bread and a full tank of gas. I'm a Ford guy. We just got rid of an old F250 with 360K on a great V-10. But the payload was the same as yours.....very, very little. Most new half-tons today are greater payload than your truck. I'm not here to preach to you about what you should or shouldn't do, but you are dealing with people on this forum that KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
Okay, I'm off my soapbox now. Again, I ask you to read your full statement and then get back to us.
And again also, welcome to the forum!:D

FWIW my 2016 4x4 DRW Crew Cab F350 XLT has a payload of 5601 lbs. GVWR 14000, GCWR 31,000. friends 2017 F450 CC DRW with all the bells and whistles only had 5000 lbs payload.
