My 2014 F150 Ecoboost has max tow package and a 3.73 rear axle. What is the advantage if any? I am towing a 2018 1/2 ton Cougar 22RBS and have no problems. Traded down from a 36.5 Heritage Glen, boy I knew it was behind me.

This setup seems a lot better.

The rear end ratio is the amount of turns your drive shaft must turn in order to turn your wheels once.
So, the higher number ratio allows your engine to turn faster to turn your wheels once, which means more engine torque, making it easier for the engine to pull the weight.

Of course, that also translates to less gas mileage.

About 5%. Mileage change should be minimal, but if you did back to back tows with 3.73 and 3.55 ratios, you would like 3.73 better.

Yes, for towing the 3.73 is better than the 3.55
