Hi,

I just recently purchased this travel trailer and is planning on making 1 trip this summer the rest of the time parked at our campsite.Im planning on upgrading to a new Tundra next year .My question is has anyone got any expierence towing this trailer with similar setup?Should i be worried about towing this safely.I towed a 5500 lb wilderness around for last 2 years with this truck with no problems whatsoever.I have WDH,brake controller and polan on adding a good sway control.I know i will be pretty close to my limit with this trailer which they tell me is 6150 lbs dry.Tow capacity os 6800-7000 lbs of this truck.

We tow our Springdale with a Tundra and have been happy with it. The 05 Tundra's are 1st generation and the tow ratings are lower than the 2nd generation (07-present).

So whats your opinion?Im towing a 5500 lb TT right now and i hardly know its back there ,will the xtra 1000lbs or so make that big of a dif?Whats the hitch weight of this trailer?650lbs?

If your happy with the 1st generation and it's doing the job for you why change? There is however a big difference in the 2nd generation not only in towing but also in braking but if you feel that this is not worth the diference then stay with what you already have! My son-in-law has a 1st generation and is happy with his.

We have an '08 Tundra that we are pulling the Laredo 303TG. 7,500# dry with 9,000 loaded. Once all is said and done I'm sure we are close to 8,500# (need to do an official weigh). Have been out twice now and there have been no issues. Have not yet hit any really steep hills, however the ones I have I was still able to accelerate. Unfortunately I can't comment on the 1st Gen.

Welcome to the forum newfoundlander.

The dry hitch weight on your Springdale is listed as 675 lb.
Dry trailer weight numbers vary between 6235 lbs. & 6257 lbs.

2010 specs here: (shows 6235 lbs)
http://keystone-springdale.com/index.php?page=floorplans&model=266RLSSR&year=2010

2010 Brochure: (shows 6257 lbs)

Using the truck's towing capacity that you provided [6800-7000], then you are correct... chances are you'll reach that limit quickly with only full LP tanks, battery, & minimal supplies/cargo in the trailer.

We have no experience with the Tundra, but hope the above info helps.
