Road from Big Cabin to Dallas

A few years ago when I inquired about the road from Big Cabin to Dallas I was told that parts of it was excessively rough for RVers. Any improvements recently? We go from Springfield to Harlingen TX via I44 to Wichita Falls then down 281. We love going down 281 however the tolls on I44 are HIGH.

I have used Highway 69 from Big Cabin, OK south all of the way to Dallas (turns into Highway 75 in southern OK) a couple of times so far in 2017, pulling a travel trailer. The road is in fine shape, I have never encountered any rough stretches. I now prefer using that route as opposed to utilizing I-35 and I-44. You are right, the tolls on I-44 are something to avoid if at all possible.

If you do head down Highway 69 and are planning to stop between Springfield and Harlingen, I will say that Choctaw Casino RV Park just south of Durant, OK is a great RV park, although it is on the higher end of nightly rates.
