Hello Members,

I'm supposed to go camping this weekend, and have hit a snag while testing my trailer lights. Both signals work, as do all of the driving lights around the coach. However, my brake lights do not. When the brake pedal is pushed, you can hear a slight hum/buzz near the rear of the trailer. Just no lights.

They worked fine last year. I should add that I converted from two 12V batteries in parallel, to two 6V batteries in a series.

The new batteries charge just fine, and all other interior/exterior lights and devices work fine. Checked all fuses, and they are fine.

Thank you in advance, for any thoughts you might have.

Mike

Changing batteries won't cause your current issue. I'm on my phone so posting links is a task, but if you go to Etrailer.com you can navigate to a page that shows the connections at the umbilical cord. Just locate the power and brake and use a jumper wire. If the lights work, the issue is either the tow vehicle or the connections at the 7 way plug.

If the lights don't work, then I would take the lens' off the rear lights and start testing there.

On edit: able to sit for a second while I pack the trailer, here you go:

the issue is either the tow vehicle One thing not mentioned. I have no idea what year the tow vehicle is but a lot trucks today have separate fuses to protect the seven pin connector/trailer. This is so the tow vehicle can still retain it's own lighting in case something with the trailer should blow a vehicle fuse.
