We are considering a trip to the 1000 Islands area the first week of October. Anybody have any RV park recommendations?

We would also be interested in recommendations on other areas we should visit. We will be attending the race in Dover on Oct 1 then heading north. We have never been to the Northeast before.

Are RV park reservations required this time of year?

Thanks

Searching on-line I found "1000 Islands Campground" and "Swan Bay RV Resort". Anybody been to either of these?

U.S. side or Canadian Side?
If on the Canadian side Ivy Lea/1000 Island KOA is very nice.

Cedar Point State Park in Clayton is very nice. The views of the St Lawrence river are awesome. Not very expensive either. The campground is spotless.

We stayed here http://koa.com/campgrounds/association-island/albums/ as they were changing over to KOA 4-5 years ago. Might be a little expensive 'in season' but October their price usually goes down. As a note, some of the CGs others noted along the St Lawrence will close down Columbus Day We have also stayed at Merry Knoll - with the exception of the owner being somewhat (very!) paranoid, it was a good stay. That's the St Lawrence behind my DW and out the back window of our then Titanium 5er
