dealers drive me nuts

Well, the oldest is off to college this fall. We will be down to one camping and she really isn't into it...........SO, thought we would look at selling the 2013 Passport 2920BH for something smaller. Problem is, I've only been able to find 1 unit that is under 30', under 7,500lbs GVW and have rear living with recliners. AND IT AIN'T A KEYSTONE. comprehnsion

We stopped at the closest Camping World today (Cedar Falls) and the sales guy was driving me nuts. I told him what we are looking for, and every trailer we looked at was "this is only 6,900lbs" or whatever the dry weight was of the trailer. I told him, I really don't care what the dry weight is. It was beyond his comprehension why I would care about GVW. His comment to me was "You aren't going to pull it full anyway". Shook my head and ignored him. I looked at the models they had, but I knew they were all bigger than I wanted.

The one I did find was a Lance. Didn't know they made travel trailers. There 2375 is only about 28' or so, under 6,000 GVW and exactly what we are looking for.............except one thing. It is $47-50k. More than I want to pay. But it is very nice. Seems to be the best built unit I've ever seen. Oh well, I guess I'll keep looking.

None of them may come close to what you're looking for, but at least they aren't $50K LOL

Oh well, I guess I'll keep looking.That about sum's it up. Just grin and bare it with a smile and move on. As Darwin would put it. The strongest survive by adaptation while the weaker reduce in size. You didn't weaken however the salesman lost his meal for the day. Hope this makes you feel better about how it all went.

For starters you can knock down that $47-50k by about 30/35% or more! That will put you in the $35k range.

There are sales-folks everywhere, selling all kinds of products that should seriously consider a career change. I spent 30 years working as an Industrial Electrician and retired from that job at 48 years old. For some reason, I wanted to sell cars for a living and in pursuit of that, I had a job lined up already, the day I retired. I went on to sell motorcycles at a very popular dealership in the St. Louis area and enjoyed it a lot. I was taught that you have two ears, and one mouth.....which means that you should listen twice as much as you talk. Listening to what a potential customer says is not only polite, it gives you insight into what they are looking for, what their needs are, and if you ask the right questions, whether or not they are somewhat of a tire kicker or a serious buyer...even if not that day. The "that day" part causes a lot of salesmen to panic....if they think that they aren't going to get a sale "that day". Then some of them revert to "stupid" mode and start saying things that they think will cause you to buy today....often times stretching the truth, trying to talk you into something that you don't want....and the list goes on. So, as I stated in the beginning, some should just realize that they suck at being in sales and move on to a different career.

There are several Passport models that fit the bill, 2520RL is a nice unit. Sounds like you may just have to take a bit of a drive to find what you're looking for. The salesman was just trying to sell you what he had which is pretty common.

I don't know how much smaller you want to get, but we have a Bullet Premier 19FBPR and are very happy with the floor plan. It's "diminutive" size has allowed us to get into spots the campground normally doesn't let out or smaller (shorter) spots that wouldn't be available if we were longer.
