There is a state forest campground about 1/2 mile from our house. We camp there usually one week every summer. DW's entire family (most of them live within a mile of us) are camped there this week for the holidays. Right now there are 9 trailers and 3 tents in the "family section" LOL We're staying home but riding our bikes down every afternoon and enjoying the company and of course the campfire..... BEAUTIFUL weather in northern Michigan (now that the rain has ended)

I just stay at home and ride the RZR down the road to the canyon to shoot or picnic. No sense dragging the trailer a couple miles.

Does the backyard (or even the front yard) count?:)

The City of Jacksonville has a wonderful park/campground at the beach, Hanna Park (https://goo.gl/maps/88ib6kCnsyL2). It's about 15 miles from the house. We've also camped at Flamingo Lake, a very nice private campground (they advertise themselves as a resort, and I'd almost believe it) which is about 15-20 miles from the house depending on the route taken (https://goo.gl/maps/HA97upsShp32).

Several years ago when the grandsons were little, we spent a week at the Mystic KOA, about 3.5 miles from the house.

Grandma and the boys stayed and played,
Grandpa commuted to work!

Good Luck,

Besides the back yard? :D We have a county park/CG about 4 miles up the road. Stayed there a couple times. Pricey and run down, only a couple spots I could get into. They give county residents a break on price, and it's still in the upper $$ for a run down CG. It's actually in the upper $$ for a nice CG. It is on the water, so I guess that counts.

Lost Creek Lake, up in the foothills of the Cascades, 37 road miles from home. Not quite enough change in elevation to get out of the summer heat, but a few degrees cooler, anyway.

I should have planned to be up there this week to get away from the "2am firecracker brigade."

Around 25 miles from home at a 30 minute drive away a nice state park.We go there several times a year. But, what is funny as a kid and then father with 2 kids. Camping was always done as a long drive to eastern or central Oregon at some remote place during holidays or a hunting season. Then I retire to 2 working days a week and I can take time off any day. We avoid camping on the holidays. We drive down the highway just outside of PDX for 2 or 3 days at a time mid week.

When spending the summer months in Oregon (Our Daughter has RV Pad/hookups) we take a 15 mile run to McIver State Park for a week & to Champoeg State Park 26 miles for a week. It's a short get-a-way and the kids love coming out for some "camping!"

Well before they tore it up and built houses it was Big Bear Park. About 200 yards from the house.

We have Guelph Lake Conservation Area about a km from our home. We walk to it quite often in the summer and walk through the camp sites as well as snow show in the winter time but have never camped there. Too close to home if we have forgotten something. I'd rather have to run into town and buy something new if in fact we did not pack it. So far over the years I believe we've accumulated an extra mat, a couple of extra propane hoses, an extra water jug or two,... the list goes on.

The worst day Up North is better than the best day down state...... :)

You've got that right !!!!! It's a different situation when you live full time "in the camping area"... We sit at home on holiday weekends and watch the "downstaters" as they rush to buy firewood, beer and all the watermelons in WalMart.... Then, on Sunday afternoon (today for this holiday) they all pack up and start heading back home. Tomorrow the campgrounds will be empty, the lakes will be smooth without jetski and ski boat wakes and we won't hear another "4 wheeler behind the house" until the weekend.....

We enjoy Monday through Friday more and more every year we're up here :whistling:

And to think: We have reservations for Groveland Oaks in August... Yeah, I know, but it's for a family reunion, otherwise we'd stay "up north".....

For many years, our annual "shakedown" camp was at Jay Cooke State Park in Carlton, MN - 5.1 miles from our house. We hadn't been there for a few years, so we took the opportunity to go there again with our new Hideout over Mother's Day weekend!

KOA that's 25 miles away and another private RV resort about 35. We do these in the fall when my daughter has soccer games. Easy to get into town for a game and head back.

The dealership where we bought the RV. They had hookups available so we stayed overnight to give it a good shakedown before we drove off the lot. Since our dealer is about a two hour drive from home, we wanted to make sure everything was operational :)

Wouldn't feel right staying too close to home. Closest for us would have probably been Cocoa Beach (Manatee Hammock), which is about 40 minutes away.

When my parents purchased their motor home about 2 years ago, they went to one of the two Indian casinos (the only one at the time with an RV park (KOA)) in our hometown to spend a couple nights learning the ropes. Depending on which of the two back roads we take, it's either 4.5 miles or just over 6 miles away.

The other casino has about 75% completed their new RV park. I can see the back of the hotel from my property, and from my driveway to their entrance is 9/10 of a mile... I know it doesn't count because I haven't stayed there... yet.

Front yard. The first night we brought it home. Was April 13th. On the 19th we had some snow. Had a rental here a few years back so I replace the pedistal to a dual 30 and have the septic system already. And cable. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170816/43e80e1f12b8cc146cd01fb69fa9f596.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170816/4990544b34591c1007cd539b7761be42.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170816/f381fb44c0f4cc31a349580b62163582.jpg
