Probably not, we really like the Impact 303 and God only know how much work/money I've put into it since I bought it.

Good on ya, Vernon! I like all black trucks, and Ford's Ruby red in particular! But our truck can look dirty even leaving the car wash....

Thanks Jim. I'm excited for sure. No more living on the edge of weight capacities. My present truck, when scaled, was within 140 lbs or so of GVWR for the truck (10k). Oh, and I'm keeping my 2 month old 42 gallon external fuel cell/pump to put on the new truck....well, new to me truck.

That is a beautiful truck. If you don't have extensions to get to your inside rear tires you can get some nice ones from Pacific Duallies.

That is/was going to be one of the first things I was going to ask the Dually guys! What is the best way to get acess to the inner wheels to check tire pressure and/or adjust it? I can't believe that you almost can't see the valve stem for the inner tire, much less being able to access it. Do you have any specific part numbers or a link?

Great looking truck. I'm sure you'll see and feel a significant improvement in towing stability. There's a big "step up" between a 2011 XLT and a 2016 KR. The bells and whistles changed so much from my 2013 to the 2015, I can only imagine the smiles every time you touch a button or your DW is chilly and you turn on her seat cooler... Enjoy your next trip, you've got the equipment to pretty much tow anything anywhere.....

Thanks John! I just never did get the F250 where I felt comfortable with that much trailer behind it. I probably need to still figure out a way to add some more tongue weight to the trailer to help stabilize it, but at least now I've got so much margain for putting more tongue weight on the truck that it's just not a big deal.

Question......do you think I'll still have to use my Blue Ox W.D. hitch? It has built in sway control....or should I just be able to hook up to the truck and go?

JRTJH

I'd recommend ALWAYS using a WD hitch with any tongue weight heavier than about 600 or 700 pounds no matter how much "capacity" you have with the truck ratings. I say that because you never know when you're going to get in a situation where the front end loses traction and having the weight "distributed' to help compensate for sand on the road, ruts in a gravel road or even hitting a railroad crossing that lifts the front end and affects your steering when you "return to earth".... I'd always use a WD hitch with added sway control in any situation. Just my opinion,

Thanks John. I don't know if it will be this weekend or not, but I do plan to load up the T.H. and take it for a test run before our next trackday weekend.....I'll definitely use the W.D. then and we'll see how it turns out. ;)

I did some checking on the Ford website and here's their limits for the F350 DRW 172" WB 6.7L diesel receiver. This is the limits for the actual 2.5" receiver mounted under your truck, not the truck's capacities...

F-350 Super Duty DRW w/6.7L engine and F-450 Super Duty (weight carrying capacity) 8,500 (Weight carrying tongue weight) 850
(Weight distributed capacity)19,000(3)(5) (Weight distributed tongue weight)1,900(3)(5)

Here's the website: http://www.fleet.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/towingguides/16RV&TT_Ford_SuperDtyPU_Sep28.pdf

So, the way I read Ford's data, without a WD hitch you're limited to 850 tongue weight and 8500 max trailer weight. They don't address sway control, but I wouldn't tow anything longer than about 25' without sway control of some kind.

ADDED: I can't remember where I read it (da*m CRS) but the above data on weight restrictions for the receiver are when used with a solid 2.5" hitch bar. If you use the reducer and a 2" hitch bar the maximums are restricted, but I can't remember by how much and can't find the doggone information right now. But, anyway, the point is that if you use your 2" hitch, the maximums are somewhat less than the 1900/19000 ratings that are listed above. How much less??? I don't know.

ADDED#2: Found it. It's in a footnote in that same reference. If the 2.5:2" adapter is used, the maximum trailer weight is reduced to 12500 and the maximum tongue weight is reduced to 1250. WHEW I knew I'd seen it somewhere.... LOL

I still use my Equalizer 4 point WDH when I tow the 2810. FEIW, just dug through the Ford 2016 towing guide and didn't see anything about using an adapter reducing capacities.

John and Tom......on my 2011 F250 hitch, there is a sticker that stated capacities for both the 2 1/2" (with and without W.D) and the lowered capacity for using the 2" reducer (with and without W.D.). I haven't had time to look at the new truck yet, but will this morning. I'm running a Blue OX setup and the drawbar is the full 2 1/2" solid steel piece rated for 20,000 lbs, so it is actually rated higher than the hitch that is installed on the truck. I'm definitely in good shape as far as weight rating go....
Max trailer GVWR...13K
Tongue weight....1360 (and as I've witnessed, that gets lighter when the trailer is loaded with bikes/gear/etc in the garage.)

... just dug through the Ford 2016 towing guide and didn't see anything about using an adapter reducing capacities.

The reference I found is in the Ford Fleet Towing Guide. http://www.fleet.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/towingguides/16RV&TT_Ford_SuperDtyPU_Sep28.pdf

It's on the fourth page (in the chart that's just above the picture of the SuperDuty carrying a cab-over camper) in the footnotes: "(3) 2.5" receiver. If the provided 2.5" to 2.0" adapter is used, this reduces the Max. Trailer Capacity to 12,500 lbs. and the Max. Tongue Load to 1,250 lbs."

John, that same info is on the sticker that is on the new truck. And in fact, if you use the 2" adapter and no weight Dist. hitch, it goes down to like 6000 lbs and 600 lbs of tongue weight. So obviously, the hot setup is the the full 2 1/2" drawbar/receiver combination, using a W.D. hitch........19000 lbs and 1900 lbs of tongue weight....which is what I presently have. In fact, the Blue Ox draw bar/hitch head is rated at 20,000 lbs, as is the 2 5/16" ball that I'm using. It's sure a good feeling to know that I'm way over protected in that manner. :D

You're right it's buried in that note. I'll have to look for the sticker on my truck. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me but I'm not an engineer.
