Are the standard mirrors on a 16 Laramie CC short bed adequate to tow a fifth wheel?

Not really. You will not see the back of your trailer. I almost didn't buy my 2500 Mega cab because they were fitted with non towing mirrors. Mopar does not make an OEM mirror that retains the heated, memory, and power folding functions. I did not want the slip on cover mirrors.

I did find one company who sells an aftermarket OEM style towing mirror that fits our trucks like a glove and keeps all the functions. 1AAuto.com has them for 409.00. They look, feel, andd operate like factory. Still can't believe mopar doesn't seell them.

What ^^^^^Buster said. I have dealt with AIAuto many times and their mirrors are factory looking every time.

I have a 2017 2500 Laramie. The stock mirrors fold out to see further around your trailer.

I replaced the stock mirrors on my 2013 Ford E250 Super Duty Extended, with a pair of extendable mirrors from Fit Systems, on Amazon. EZ swap. 205 bucks for the pair, just like the OEM. Power adjust, they fold in and extend manually. took our first trip with the stock mirrors, but it was a 2 lane highway, no passing or changing lanes. Going to Jenner CA, for a week in June, I'll be glad to have them for that.

You have the optional Tow mirrors, according to FCA parts the standard mirrors cannot be replaced with the Tow mirrors. Don't know why. In "busterbrown's" post he directed me to 1aauto and they have mirrors that will fit. I am calling Monday to order.

Yes, I traded up to the 16 Laramie Diesel.

I'm not sure what "standard" is but the ones on my 2014 2500 are like Jmak has pictured. I tow a 35' 5th wheel and see just fine without tilting them out. While I can see a bit better angle with them tilted they get farther away and harder to see so it's kind of a trade-off. My overall visibility with this truck while towing if great and I've never had any issue.

Attached are photo's of the truck and mirrors, they do not tilt up. They are lacking the wide angle portion and that is missed. The Mirrors on the F-250 (traded in) were the best mirrors ever.

I will try to flip them over:facepalm: any help is appreciated.

Yep... those are the standard non-towing mirrors... Hopefully one of these Ram guys can help you find Bullwinkle. When I drove Rams I removed those little mirrors and plugged the holes with bolts and the dealer added large towing mirrors with a bolt on frame, but that was before the factory towing mirrors came out.

Do you have power folding mirrors? If so watch the below video.

Do your current mirrors have defrost, power adjust and the power fold-in option? If so, the towing mirrors ~should~ work. I stress should... They are a direct bolt on fit, as the standard and towing mirrors use the same bolt pattern to attach to the door. If your current mirrors don't have the power fold-in option, you won't have it if you upgrade to the towing option, and some mirrors have a turn signal indicator in the mirror, others don't. In looking at your mirrors, i see you do have the turn indicator, soooo the mirrors should work. The bolt pattern will absolutely be the same, but the difference might be in the electrical connector. I can't imagine they would make the electrical connection different for the stock mirrors vs. the tow mirrors, as the doors are are all the same, and the wiring loom is generally the same too.

I had an 04 ram I upgraded the standard mirrors to the towing mirrors, and all the functions worked, but the truck didn't have the power fold-in option so that was a non-issue.

There are several dealers who sell OEM parts on Ebay, and Ive ordered from a couple of them over the years without any issue. If you want to keep the chrome look, you will likely be paying more$$ vs. the all black.

When the factory adds the Tow Mirrors there is a stiffener bracket along with 3 Rivnuts added. Mopar has not put together a "Install kit" including these items. That is why the standard answer is "They will not fit". These parts can be ordered separately from Mopar. You tube is full of information and guidance. (along with this form) Check out the video in post 13.

If the OP has memory, heated, puddle light, turn signal light, and power fold functions of his current Laramie (pretty much standard) non-towing mirrors, then these (https://www.1aauto.com/2013-17-ram-mirror-pair/i/trmrp00053) lights WILL work. I called and spoke to them before I purchased. I think they do have a chrome version. My truck has all black trim with black badging so these were a perfect fit.

When the mirrors are extended for towing, the only quirky thing that I noticed is the power adjusting doesn't reorient in a vertical orientation. So the arrows on your door panel will be 90 degrees off. In non-towing mode, the orientation is correct. The intelligence isn't there so this may be why Mopar doens't provide an exact replacement for non-towing mirrors. Not a big deal to me as everything still works nicely. Hope this helps.

On my 2004, which came with standard mirrors, it did not have power fold. When I upgraded to the oem towing mirrors, everything is plug and play. Yes I watched the video. My guess is the stiffening bracket is for the power folding mirrors. If you don't have that option then most likely you don't need the stiffener. Otherwise all the bolt holes should match.

As a follow-up I ordered a set of mirrors from 1aauto with all the appropriate options for about $600.00. Arrived in 2 days, easy install and work perfectly. A solid 5 stars.
